I bought the car in the states, I am from the states as well. I will never import it or plate it here because the laws here compared to the laws in the states are just stupid. I own property in the states so I will leave it plated there, I suggest you do the same if you can....lol.

Taxes here are crazy, they are double what you will pay in the states. Everything is expensive and I seriously mean everything. I am in Montreal which may be different from Toronto, Im really not sure. Either way send me a message if you need parts here in Canada. I work at a performance shop so I can get you some pretty good deals

oh and the import tax....its nuts. A buddy of mine just imported his evo when he moved here from NY and it cost over $8k for the import taxes and fees. Another reason Tiara Lynn will stay plated in the states.

Carrie....you remind me of the days back in India....

Import duty/Octroi is 110% of the car value...yes, not a typo 110%....so a 35K Mercedes C class over there is close to 75K ....

I have heard about the taxes in Canada/some European countries and they are just ridiculously high....another reason for you to come back to the states

Haha, I'm seeing that. They do look pretty spectacular on this car, and the dark graphite color provides great contrast to WDP.

I am running a 255/35/20 so on a 10.5 its stretched slightly. If you are gonna run this size on a 10.5 I'd suggest a soft rubber such as a falken 452 or a yoko s-drive

update time This is gonna be a long post. I'm a woman, deal with it.

sooooooooo yeah a tree fell on my car - details to follow

I just ordered a set of AirRex struts and I absolutely cannot fucking wait until they get here. As soon as I get them I'll post some pics. I'm doing the install myself so I'll make a DIY.

I will be painting the Vossens in the next few weeks - pics later

Ill be installing some kind of aftermarket alarm, I'm leaning toward viper.

I'm also working on a fog light project. The easy part is adding the HID kit. The difficult part is finding a way to use the stock switch to turn the fogs on/off WITHOUT the driving lights on.
I'll try to clarify - right now in the 4G the driving lights need to be on in order for the fog lights to be on. You can turn the fog switch to the on position but they will not illuminate unless the driving lights are on. I understand I can just wire in a new switch and a harness to control my fogs independently but that's not what I want to do. I would like to keep everything stock and I would like the light on the dash to be on if the fogs are on or off if they are off.
Here is what I have figured out so far. Like others I had the issue with the blinker lever where it stops working. The blinker will not stay on. Instead of bringing it to the dealer I removed my air bag, steering wheel and column and replaced the lever myself. I now have the old non working one here on my desk. I've taken the entire thing apart and traced the control for the fogs all the way back to the MICU. I thought this would be as simple as rewiring something in the actual switch but unfortunately its not. Im gonna have to tap a couple wires that run into the MICU and go from there. Ill probably need a relay and some other fun stuff....thank god I have the service manual with the wiring diagram or i would not be able to do this. Ill update everyone on this when its finished.

Now, back to the tree. So I'm parked at work and all of a sudden I hear a crack and a crash. Fucking tree right on my car
First thing I thought was shit another tree is gonna come down so I immediately moved my car and all my customers cars to the back of the building where there are no trees.

So see where the end of the tree fell? That's where my front bumper was and yes that's a parking spot. So the tree grazed my front bumper, fucked up my grille and the branches caused $7000 worth of damage to my hood and front fender. There is also a large dent between my drivers side window and roof and above my headlight. The damage to the hood is so extensive the paint is cracked. Its near impossible to see the damage to the hood and fender because of the lighting and the color of the paint. To sum it up it looks like hail damage where the branches hit.

So yeah insurance is covering it (thank god) and itll be heading to the body shop soon. Like I said its very hard to see the damage in the pics, I debated even posting them.

That sucks sorry to hear about the TL... if you would like I can write you up a Diagram to solve your Fog light issue... If you can find where that fog light switch gets power input and move it from the headlight trigger to the parking light trigger with a diode just for safety radio shack like a buck 50 for 2... that would be the easiest... they would come on and off with your parking lights and the green indicator would still illuminate. if you want them constant or ignition that's all in where you tap power into the switch... the issue is how much power that trigger needs to be with it running thru the CPU you may smoke something if the milliamps are to high.


The #1 easiest way to accomplish this is to use the relay harness for the HID's... http://www.ebay.com/itm/261280788017...84.m1439.l2649
Hook it directly to the battery ground the two grounds and use the parking lamp hot wire to trigger the relay. This would disable your switch on the blinker and just make they be on anytime the parking lights are on. Which is the kewl look to me. You also would loose your Green Indicator light...


There's really like 10 ways to do this... another one would be to isolate the input and out put of that switch bring power to it (depending on when you want them able to turn on key on/off etc). yeah...its a PITA. Id like to keep the indicator light and stock switch. Thats why Im going through all this trouble.

yes, the coils will be for sale. I have my stock suspension so I don't see the need to keep the teins. Id rather pass them along to someone that will enjoy them.

Since this is technically my thread Im 100% in for the debate.

Im American, born and raised in CT. I have been living in Montreal for the past year. Ill go ahead and share my experiences in your country.

1) The French. They will swear to you that Quebec is an entirely separate country. They even have their own language which I promise you is NOT french. They are the rudest bunch of ignorant douchebags I have EVER had to deal with. Some of them will legitimately refuse to speak English to me even though they know the language 100%. They will refuse my help because I am English. To me this does nothing but show their ignorance. Good luck finding a job or living anywhere in the world other than Quebec.

2) Free health care??????? Try getting sick. Try going to the hospital or the doctor. I have a customer who's wife was 5mths pregnant. She went to the hospital because she was having severe stomach pains. She was told to wait and 4 hours later had a miscarriage in the hallway of the hospital. IS THIS ACCEPTABLE ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD??? Sure, maybe in third world countries. Your health care may be free but it sure does suck. Something like this would NEVER happen in the states.

4) Your roads are shit. Yeah, I said it, the fucking roads SUCK hardcore. They are not maintained and are actually dangerous. I'm pretty sure the roads in some 3rd world countries are better than he roads in Quebec. I swear to you the potholes are so bad a friend of mine actually flipped his car when he hit one. No, he was not speeding.

Maybe all of Canada's problems are in Quebec? Who knows? I've never really made it out of this shit province to do any exploring. Probably because the gas is so god damn expensive and the roads are so horrible.

I know this thread is not for politics, but such posts urges me to respond. Fricking Obamacare is going to RUIN our country financially and DESTROY SOUND healthcare. If Obamacare runs its course and everyone in the US does end up purchasing mandated health insurance, insurance rates will continue to rise (as it is already doing so), wait lines will continue to increase, access to quality health care will suffer, physicians will burn out and eventually leave the US to practice due to overload of patients and decreased income, and small businesses will suffer due to increased payroll tax/medicare tax/unfavorable business environment, etc...

Such situations above will start to arise in the US and continue to worsen.

SCREW Obama and his socialistic policies, and he's the one and only POTUS I wish to hell. I'm still flabberglasted 53% of the US voted him in by his false promises. Even Democrats, his own dam party, are finally beginning to see the detriments of Obamacare and are beginning to resist Obama's socialistic ideas.

Our own salvation is a quality GOP candidate to overturn Obamacare and stick it up his a$$.

I'm pretty sure the roads in some 3rd world countries are better than he roads in Quebec. I swear to you the potholes are so bad a friend of mine actually flipped his car when he hit one. No, he was not speeding.

Maybe all of Canada's problems are in Quebec? Who knows? I've never really made it out of this shit province to do any exploring. Probably because the gas is so god damn expensive and the roads are so horrible.

Carrie,i am from Canada and you put it better about Quebec than i ever could, i wish Canada would just cut them loose and cut all the funding as well.One visit was all it took for me to feel this way.

Way to go .

BTW taxes are a heart breaker in T.O as well and i don't mean the 13% HST i am talking about the income taxes,property taxes etc.....insane shit.
