My free trial expires in 2 days. I called today to "make sure I won't auto renew" and she didn't budge. I will call back later and say I have a flyer. Question: If I want to get Nav Traffic and The Best Of Sirius as well is it something I can add on to the $77 / year rate? Thanks!

Called back and got the $77 for XM Everything. Couldn't get the Best of added on without voiding the $77 deal. Traffic was 3.99 still. They were very nice.

New special: I simply called and wanted to cancel at the end of my due to the economy......went on briefly about how things were tight...and how last years $77 was outta reach. they just renewd XM and Nav Trafic @$40 for 5 months.

Peep Game: thats XM @ 3.99 per month and Nav Traffic @ 3.99 per month!

"Winning is the science of being totally prepared!"

This deal is like a SORE dick....you cant BEAT it! LOL!

Cool

Got my first year after the trial for $77.00. Followed the script and it was not a problem. Thanks once again to all who contributed.

$77 year still works for me

Just call XM and told them I want to keep $77/yr deal on XM everthing plus 3.99/month traffic for another year of subscription (my 2nd year). I was transferred to another department, and the rep confirmed that I can get same deal ($77+traffic) for another year. I gave them my credit card for one time charge. Total is $124.88.

Make sure call 800-682-4114 to make things easier for your renew.

This probably don't belong in here but i did my Sirus a few days ago for 20 and change per quarter. which is 80 something a year. took about 20 minutes then they transferred me to the accounts closure department then that's when they offered me lower price. I mentioned that XM had a offer for 77 a year then she finally broke down and offered the deal to me if I stayed with my current service.

Guys I stopped my XM 1.5 yrs ago. I want to resubscribe to XM again. I haven't done the $77 deal yet but I have done other smaller deals before. Do you think they will Do the $77 deal for me? Will there be an "reactivation charge" or a way out of it?

Yep I will try it of course regardless, I try everything. I just wanted to know if it's been done before without hangups.

I just wish if they could totally amp up the sound quality. It is my number one problem with the service. The sound quality is so muddy and SUCKS! It sounds like it is coming through at 48kps or a AM radio clock radio speaker or something. I'm really getting XM again because my radio is not coming in clear ever since I did my metallic tint. I have to be smack in a metro area to get clear signals. With my commute I NEED no nonsense traffic updates.

might be cheaper long term to re do the tint w/o the metallic - why pay for the muddy sound quality then?

Hmmm well I love the tint and to retint will not be cost effective or logical at all. Not to mention a hell lot more hassle and effort. Sometimes they scratch your glass when removing your tint. It will cost me $75 to remove and $225 to retint. 3 yrs. of XM is all I need because I won't keep the car longer than that.

To everyone, on slickdeals.net they are reporting $49/year renewal. I wouldn't be satisfied with $77 considering I just got a letter saying they're going to pull online listening in March with the standard package.

Sirius XM Prepares Bankruptcy Filing

Published: February 10, 2009

Sirius XM Satellite Radio has been working with advisers to prepare for a possible bankruptcy filing in a move that could put pressure on the satellite company EchoStar, which owns a substantial amount of the company’s debt.

Sirius has been working with the restructuring expert Joseph A. Bondi of Alvarez & Marsal and the bankruptcy lawyer Mark Thompson of Simpson, Thatcher & Bartlett to help prepare a Chapter 11 filing, people close to the company said. The documents and analysis are close to being completed and a filing could come within days, according to a person familiar with the matter.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/11/te...s/11radio.html

Sirius, whose radio stars include the popular shock jock Howard Stern, has also been working with the investment bank Evercore Partners.

Charles Ergen, who controls a satellite-television empire including the Dish Network Corporation and EchoStar, recently acquired the majority of a $300 million tranche of Sirius debt that matures next Tuesday.

Since the news about the debt purchase has emerged, questions have surfaced over whether Mr. Ergen will make a bid to purchase Sirius. The threat of a possible bankruptcy filing could force Mr. Ergen to make a formal offer for the company now if he doesn’t want to go through an auction in bankruptcy court.

It could also compel Mr. Ergen to agree to convert his debt into an ownership stake in Sirius at a higher price than he originally considered.

I honestly don't understand how people can stomach the poor audio quality of satellite radio. All of the voices sound metallic to me and there is ungodly compression making the music unlistenable. Some of the channels are broadcasting at 32kbps which is unacceptable for speech intelligibility let alone high quality music playback.

EW YORK (Reuters) – Sirius XM Radio Inc has been working with its advisers to prepare for a possible bankruptcy filing, the New York Times reported on its website on Tuesday, citing people close to the company.

The move could put pressure on satellite television company EchoStar Corp, which reportedly holds a substantial amount of Sirius XM debt. The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that EchoStar chief Charles Ergen made an offer to take control of the satellite radio company late last year, but he was rebuffed.

Sirius officials did not respond to several telephone and email messages, and EchoStar declined comment.

Sirius has been working with restructuring expert Joseph A. Bondi of Alvarez & Marsal and bankruptcy lawyer Mark Thompson of Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett to help prepare a Chapter 11 filing, the New York Times reported, adding a filing could come within days.

A Simpson, Thacher spokeswoman declined comment, and Bondi was not immediately available for comment.

Sirius has also been working with investment bank Evercore Partners, the newspaper said. Evercore could to be reached immediately.

Last week, The Wall Street Journal reported EchoStar holds about $400 million of Sirius XM debt and the satellite radio company led by Mel Karmazin is scrambling to raise $175 million by a February 17 payment date to fend off a possible takeover threat and avoid default.

Sirius XM has nearly $1 billion in debt due this year, prompting analysts to doubt its future given the sluggish credit market and a steep drop in car sales, the biggest source of new satellite radio subscribers.

Sirius XM shares saw a 23.8 percent increase in short interest from mid- to late-January -- the biggest increase on the Nasdaq, indicating that more short sellers were trading the stock.

Short sellers borrow shares and then sell them, waiting for the stock to fall so they can buy the shares back at the lower price, return them to the lender, and pocket the difference.

Sirius shares closed Tuesday's session 3.5 percent higher at 11 cents on the Nasdaq.

At least, they are considering Chapter 11, which means we won't lose XM immediately, they will be allowed to restructure and continue operations

Just reupped at the $77 rate. As most of us are aware the economy is not good and the rep understood. Still have XM online as I reupped before the March cutoff. That was an added bonus

Renewed just now for another year. I was offered 5 months for just $20 but I opted for the one year plan at $77 instead because it's annual and I won't have to deal with this in the middle of the summer. Thanks!

XM renewal

My subscription expired 2 months ago. XM called me yesterday and I declined the $20 for 5 months. The sales person automatically went to the $77 year offer for Sirius with all XM included- combined, with free activation. I asked about the Chapter 11 filing too come. There was no answer. Buyer be ware. I didn't renew. Maybe in the summer.

For everyone, Sirius/XM will not be filing for Chapter 11 because Liberty media aided in a 350 million "loan" with Liberty gaining 40% stake in stocks. Basically Sirius/XM will be MORE than happy to give you the $77 rate, as they NEED money

New TL owner (05) and new poster.

I have a month or so left on my trial sub, and I just called and said I'd be willing to sign up for the $77/year deal but nothing more, and she asked for my promo code.

Are those unique numbers or can someone supply me with a code?

New Update For XM Renewals.

Guys, I just called XM this afternoon to renew my one year contract, which expires in April. They told me I could NOT get the $77 price for the 2nd year. I then told them I would not be renewing my contract for the 2nd year. Well, that was the golden phrase!!! You MUST tell them you will not renew your contract unless you get the $77 rate. Otherwise, they'll try to put you on their other programs. I hope this helps everyone. Plus, they will not charge my credit card until the renewal time.

I just renewed mine for 6 months @ $4.99 per month. There may be better deals to be had than the $77/yr deal.

It sounds like I could have gotten a few fewer $/mo, but I got the $77 deal*.

*Although, I mentioned "zwinback" as my code and she said that wasn't valid anymore but she'd give me the deal anyway.

5 Months for $20

Called to cancel; had to stay on hold about 25 minutes. I just said I was canceling and they offered me five months for $20. I've renewed three times for $77 annually ('04 TL; I've had XM continuously since I purchased the car in August 2004)

It is a bit of a hassle having to go through the dance again in five months, but it was tough passing up that deal.

Another Successful Renewal - '05 RL

Xpeditor - my renewal worked on 3/6/09. Of course, XM tried to throw every option at me. They also sign you up for an automatic renewal, so next year, I will have to cancel and do the deal over again.

Thanks for the great tip!

Just did it for the 4th year in a row!!!!!!!! Told them I didn't want it to auto-renew and wanted it to cancel because it was to expensive, so they offered it to me at the half price of $77 because I have been a customer since 2005. Thanks again Acurzine see everybody it works. STICK TO THE SCRIPT!!!
