Thumbs up MSN: Top 10 Cars for AudioPhiles

Acura's excellent ELS audio system is available across the entire vehicle lineup (except on its flagship RL model, ironically, which still packs an underwhelming Bose setup). It sounded the best in the midrange TL luxury sedan. Designed by Grammy-winning sound engineer Elliot Scheiner, the 440-watt, 10-speaker surround-sound system aims to reproduce studio-quality sound, including the full 24-bit, 96-kHz audio found in DVD-A discs — the highest quality currently possible.

It's good to see MSN giving the TL some love. Where was it ranked in the Top 10, or was there not a ranking?

I think it was on page 6/11 with an intro page but I don't think the list was ordinal. Can someone help shed some light on the Dolby Pro Logic II / want to share their entire system settings?

Audio settings are going to be what ever the listener likes. I played with mine a bit to get the right high, mid and bass I like. The source also plays heavily into the output.. some songs have a lot of treble, others a lot of bass. I find that there is no perfect "Setting for all sources" but a happy medium can be reached.

I set the audio depending on what music I'm listening to.

And you change the Dolby setting as well? I understand the Treble / Bass, etc by song but I am unsure for the PLII.

I used to have Dobly PLII on but it like it off better. Try your favorite song/music with it on then off

Now, to really hear the sweeness of this sound sytem, get yourself a DVD-A. It's amazing!

Yea, the CD that comes with the car to really hear the sound system at its finest makes me yearn for more music of that quality.

I tinkered with the PLII on and off and again it was dependent on what I had on.

I perfer to listen to my motor instead of the radio. I have 4 cars, 3 of them I got new in 2010. Some of them have better radios then the TL (according to some literature) and I probably haven't turned the radios on a dozen times between them all. Seeing people who can't run, drive, work, shower, sleep, & study without being plugged into "music" reminds me of a 60s Star Trek show where they have all been turned into zombies walking around humming to themselves.

BTW, what's a CD?

I like the system for sure. Very happy. One thing I'm confused on is my wife's Mdx apparently has the same sound system, but, the bass is so much stronger clearer and resistant to distortion than in my tl. And we both have the tech package.
