HDD Ripping CDs

How long does it take to do a whole cd? Also, if I put in a cd and then switch to XM mode, will it finish off ripping the cd?

CDs rip in about 1/3 to 1/4 of the playing time or so.

Your second question is a good one. Don't know the answer.

it does continue to rip when in another mode (radio, etc). the only time it doesn't rip is when the ignition is turned off. ripping resumes when the ignitinn is turned on.

I just bought a TL with the Tech package and tried to upload a CD and was not succesful. Although not explicitly stated, do I have to have the engine running in order for a CD to be ripped to the Hard Drive?

even if you change to xm/ Radio/ usb, it will still continue ripping but system should be on (running / accessory mode)

Nope. will rip when in accessory mode.

I have found that if you turn the car off while ripping a cd, I have had an occasional issue with the cd ripping properly. Most of the time it worked fine though.

What format does it rip to? MP3? If so, what bit rate?
