Audio Setup

Hi,

I am just curious how you guys set up your audio setting like bass, treble, subwoofer, balance, etc.

Mine is all +4 and all centered balance.

Thanks,

I have an aftermarket sub so I keep my bass turned down (0 or +1) and I turn the sub to +4. I have treble on +3 or +4 and everything else at 0.

While looking for something else, I came across a big thread in the 3rd Generation section about optimizing settings. Sorry, don't have a link, but maybe check there for the top threads.

does the aftermarket sound better than the factory sub? And why do you have you bass turned down so low?

does the aftermarket sound better? And is it in it's own enclosure, or did you put it where the factory sub used to be? Why do you have your bass turned down so low?

^ I'm sure the aftermarket sub sounds better, that's why he spent money to get it installed. I'm personally thinking about getting a JL 10W7 in my ride. The stock sub is pretty darn good but I just need a little more excursion for my liking.

To answer the OP question my settings are as follows:
Treble 0 or +1
Bass +5
Center +2
Subwoofer +5
Dolby On 90% of the time

As you can tell I love bass.

Yes, it sounds much better. It's a 12" JL Audio W3 in a custom sealed enclosure. I removed the factory sub to allow more sound to travel into the cabin.

By turning the subwoofer level up it eliminates the need to have the bass turned up, and keeps the majority of the bass coming from my sub instead of the other speakers. Though I'm still in warranty I don't want to deal with blown speakers.

Well said. I think that's probably what I needed to know. (the fact that you have an enclosed box, rather than just placing the new sub in place of the factory one).

And trust me; I know what you mean about blown speakers. I just had my driver's door speaker replaced and the sub. And honestly, I can definitely tell the right speaker has been replaced. . but I think they just tightened a screw or something on the sub because it still cracks at volume level 14! I was thinking about taking it back to the shop, but I say screw it. . I'd rather do an enclosed sub as well.

I'm thinking of changing all of the speakers while I'm at it though.

Would you happen to have any pics?

It did sound like a dumb question didn't it? However. . I'm not a dumbass. . .it's a relevant question.

I recently took my Infiniti to get the bose sub fixed or replaced with a JBL sub. . .halfway through installation, the tech came to me and said. . .unfortunately, the factory sub sounded MUCH better than the aftermarket JBL.

Although BEFORE going through with the install. . .when just talking to the techs about it. . they ALL said how much better the aftermarket sub would sound. . .and it turns out. . it didn't.

And guess what. . .I spent money for it.

I ended up getting the factory installed sub back in.

Sure do, click here.

Not the greatest pics but they give you an idea of what it looks like. The sub faces down btw. I need to dynamat my trunk and rear deck to get rid of some rattles...that will come in due time along with some other areas (under rear seat and doors).

Thanks man! It's definitely not one of those systems that is pretty to look at when you open the trunk, but I was going for function over form and the result was dead on. I still have room in my trunk, it looks relatively stock, and there's enough thumping for my taste.

I just had a regular ported 12 installed this past weekend. The sound is MUCH better, however I'm a bit pissed because the idiots didn't take the stock sub out. They just disconnected it. They didn't re-wire the aftermarket sub to the old sub, so I have no control using the sub option in the HU. The sub is actually controlled by the bass option.

I'm going to take the car somewhere else. . and I know they are going to charge me the $125 to take the factor sub out and rewire it. . a real pisser. . but I want to really have control over the sub.
