Seems weird that one like this won't work but it does for even newer other models. Whats the right version to get as her car has the OEM 2009 TL disc? Alot of new roads since then. Doesn't have to be the latest, but probably a 2017+ version here in Central Florida. TIA.

 

Acura has different generations of hardware and each gen takes a different color disc.

Go to acuranavi.navigation.com to find the disc color for your model/year (pretend to buy and it will say white disc or orange disc, etc at checkout). Then you can ebay for any Acura disc that matches the color.

 

For the 2009 Acura TL: 2021 is the last year for navigation update (2021 Red DVD Map Update v4.20.7.J0). I bought it because I will not need to buy it again.

What version or color would be say a 2017 or so update? $149 seems like a lot and none on eBay right now.

Looks like the red discs are part of the more recent hardware that requires an activation key. The keys might be vin-specific so disc resale may no longer be possible.

A risk to consider if going the ebay route.

 

None on there now. Probably going to be hard pressed to find one since the application only fits 09-11 TL. She will have to deal with google maps on her phone in the meantime. Thanks for the replies.

 

If you buy an official disc on acuranavi.navigation.com it will be a 2021 red disc and cost $149. And you will get a new genuine activation code so no risk of it not installing.

Acura discontinued red discs after 2021. But they still have remaining stock on the 2021 discs.

My guess is that activation codes are vin-locked, so no one can re-sell preowned discs on ebay sice they were activated on a prior vin.

 

Honestly it’s a superior product. Why even bother with the in car Nav in 2024? If you cared to, you can also add aftermarket carplay/android auto and it would be vastly superior to buying the disc
