Navigation Update for 2009-2011 TL

It looks like if you own a 2009-2011 TL, it's your last chance to get a Navigation Update!!! I have finally pulled the trigger to order one. NOTE: I actually don't own a smart phone so I use the built-in navigation a lot.

Finally did the update and I choose the 'background' mode. It takes 1 hour to 'load' Disk 1 & 2 and then you get your controls back (Radio/Phone). After that, it is updating the maps in the background via 'regions'. I wish I did this sooner.....I was expecting an update to take down the radio/phone down for the entire 3-5 hours!!

How much do you notice a difference? I have a 14 TL - Trying to decide if it's worth it to finally update it.

My 2009 had not had an update so getting the 2021 maps were a great update. I would check out site yearly to see when last update will happen for 2014 model years. I suspect it will be 2025 (2014+11 years).

I upgraded the original Navi disk in my 2014 about 2-3 months ago and definitely noticed the difference. for sure there is a difference in calligraphy and the maps itself - at first I could not get used to it. Things like parks or any non street areas have slightly different visualization, the street directions are more pronounced etc. The area next to where I live had been recently redeveloped (within the last 1-2 years or so) and was already included in the maps. If you use the build-in Navi frequently, I think it is a worthy upgrade, especially if you drive in the area that had seen lots of new developments etc. If you only use the Navi once or twice a year for what I would call emergency situations, than the upgrade might be a tough sell.
