Unique Dealer Installed Options
When shopping for a 2014 TL a few months back I called the local dealer asking if they could match the best price from another dealer.
They said yes but their TL would be $120 more because it had "luggage protection".
Trunk tray I asked? No, no, no noooo... Turns out luggage protection is strip of clear bra @ 6 by 30 inch's located on the bumper just under the trunk. Not really anything most would want but nice upsell on the TL
This left me wondering what creative dealer installed options others have run into.

2014 TL SH-AWD Advance
My SH-AWD Advance came with chrome TL letters on the front doors. Didn't even realize until I started poking around that others did not have this. Thinking of removing them.

I paid an extra 1k for what the dealer called the "Furious Package", turns out it was a green under body glow kit that only lights up with I'm in VTEC, it also came with a paid of tickets to the next Fast and Furious movie.

The Original Shawdy
When I bought mine they have installed the protection package which included: splash guards, trunk tray and wheel locks. Which to them was $120 upgrade. I would of bought those parts anyway minus the splash guards since I got the lip kit that first day I bought the car too.

Nitrogen isn't really a scam, but in cars that have TPMS it really isn't needed. It does stop the fluctuation of air pressure due to increases and decreases in temperature but that's doesn't really mean much if you can see on your dash exactly how much air is in each tire.

My car is filled with nitrogen and all I can say is that there are changes in pressure. This winter, my tires were at 33psi cold and now it has changed to about 35psi cold. When running hot... i have seen it change up to 39psi.

One dealer near me up-charges all cars by $180 for hand painted stripes on the sides of all vehicles. Apparently some guy comes in each time they get new cars and paints them all. We bought a car from them and demanded they remove the stripe and refund the $180 or we wouldn't buy the car. It worked.
I agree, Nitrogen is a scam. Air is mostly nitrogen anyway. The same dealer charges $29 a year for their Nitrogen subscription service, if you pay it, you can stop in anytime to get nitrogen put into your tires.
Lie #1. Nitrogen will prevent the inside of the tire from oxidizing. Truth: it will take far longer for the inside of the tire to oxidize than the life of the tire, the inside is often coated, and the outside is exposed to air anyway.
Lie #2. Nitrogen prevents pressure fluctuations. Truth: The pressure fluctuation difference in a flexible/expandable object due to air v. nitrogen is less than .02 PSI. Both will fluctuate.
Lie #3. Nitrogen doesn't leak as fast as air, and your tire will stay inflated longer giving you meter gas mileage. Truth: In multiple studies, after 6 months, the PSI difference between Air and Nitrogen tires was <.1 PSI. You should check your tire pressure more than once every 6 months. The pressure difference might save you a few cents over the life of your car.
