TL Air Filter

TL Air Filter
Hello,
I am new to this forum. My question might be silly to most of you, but I have not done this before.
I just got a 2009 TL w/Tech 3.5L 2WD, I like to know how to change the air filter under the hood. When I popped open the hood, it is all covered. I would appreciate instructions and pictures as to where to start to replace the air filter.
I got instructions on changing the cabin air filter off another post, so I am fine with that. Thanks for your help.

This is pretty simple, just remove the plastic engine cover on the right side of the car where the intake is located, make sure you keep the clips.
Then unclip or unscrew the airbox and remove the stock filter, now drop in the aftermarket filter. Screw or clip the filter box and your all set.
Now put back the plastic engine cover back where it belongs and make sure you install the clips.

Ya got to love these new cars with all these engine covers on them. Personally I think I like to see the actual motor and all the mechanicals.
And yes they are screws that hold the box. I just dropped a K & N filter in mine a couple of weeks ago.

I took my engine cover off and i personally love it. Although when you take off the engine cover's, the hood look's like it's dropped. You don't really notice it unless your up close.

The Takeda intake really makes a big difference. For a measly $250, you're adding about 14 hp/14 lb-ft torque according to Takeda. Throttle and passing response is improved. Normal cruising is quiet as before but as soon as you slam on the gas, you'll get a mean roar that'll startle nearby drivers.

Also, is the takeda intake hard to install? does it need to be done professionally?

Takeda intake install wasn't too bad at all....took me about an hour...a couple hoses gave me some trouble. If you have any doubt, let a mechanic do it.
