I just got back from a trip to NYC and I still haven't seen one. I saw just about every other new car model but the TL. New England surely isn't a hot spot.

This is actually great feedback. When I got my 05' TL, nobody had it in Nov' 2004! It was sweet for about 6 months, then they started to pop up! Today I see soooo many 3G TL it's sick! Just now coming home from a Holiday party, I saw two older TL's at the same stop light, and I proudly rolled through! This is so sweet! I feel privileged!!!

I said it b4, but a few months ago in my 04 TL I came to a red light - and including mine there was a NBP on 3 of the 4 corners. Somedays it seemed I could drive and almost the whole drive be in sight of at least one (drive pass one, see another, and another)

That's so true. When I got my 05 TL the summer of 05, I rarely saw any 3Gen TLs in the San Antonio area. However, now they are a dime a dozen.

I saw a Black 4G a while back when they first came out, It looks like it was being test driven cause it was near an Acura dealer and just last week I saw another one drive by me at night on the freeway. It looked cool from a side view a night. In think the 4Gs are probably gonna be a little rare for the time being since they just came out but I'm sure in a couple years you are going to see them just as much as we see our 3Gs now

Back in 05 when I bought my NBP they were rare also. I remember one day when my car was about a week old (still had dealer plates) I saw a cute girl in an 05 SSM and she had dealer plates also, so I am assuming hers was brand new, I looked at her and gave her the thumbs up and she just smiled and nodded.

I see a lot of 2G TSXs everyday but I have a long commute to work approx 50 miles one way so that might be the reason why I have even driven the 2G TSX twice already when my car has been in for service.

Rare car to see in my neck of the woods, i've only seen one and oddly enough it was parked next to mine when i was getting out of the grocery store.

Car was Silver FWD, i was definitely jealous wish i had the money for a 09.

Thumbs up Seen None Yet in NC

I just stopped by the dealership to see one in person bc the 2009 TSX & RL looked much much better in real life & I wanted to see if that held true for the TL ... and it did. Up close I saw more character lines that made the car flow much better & other tiny details that I never noticed online. For instance (& forgive my poor explanation here) I really liked how the 2 chrome strips on top of the car came down the back windshield but did not stay flush w/ the glass, they stuck out when they got to the trunk making like little "walls". It is nothing fancy but it is something unique. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about ... look down the left side of the rear glass:

My biggest complaint about the exterior is just that the grill blade is just too darn big. The door handles seem rather simplistic compared to the rest of the vehicle but that is no biggie. The Mayan Bronze color was also very nice & different. The interior was great; Honda/Acura still makes the best interiors in my opinion & it definitely looked like a luxury car to me {altho I would prefer that the stitching match the color of the leather}.

It was parked next to a new RL & I must say, Acura has definitely stepped it up a little in the rim department. Not that they are spectacularly fancy but they are not as drab as what they have been using. Interesting that they do not do the quad exhaust tips for the RL.

They had 4 2009 TLs on the lot, 3 SHWAD and all were Tech; none had painted grilles. The 2008s were marked down $5,000 & the 2008 RLs were marked down &7,000.

I always assumed that my next ride would be an RL bc the 3rd generation TL was too close/similar to my 1st generation TSX but this 4th generation has definitely moved up market & I am going to have to give another look when the time comes.

I saw my first 4G TL (out of the dealership) today FINALLY! I live in So Cal and I figured I'd see a lot of these cars on the road by now. Guess sales must not be that good. Guess What? The one I saw was a black SH-AWD, with dealer plates, you know the kind with just 4 digits, and an occupational license sticker on the year part of where you place your valid license tags. I wonder how much longer I will have to wait to see a 4G TL owned by a real customer?

Congratulations KzooTL. You're the first to come out and speak the truth for a current 3G owner. I would dedicated a entire thread on your honesty and brave post! I was a hating the 4G TL when pictures came out, but I turned to the dark side right after I test drove one. It's just bigger and better than my 05' TL and made me feel like I was finally in a luxury sedan without spending $55K. The old TL's just look small now when I see them on the road, and I'm very happy with it!

Wrong bmode. Kzoo is just one person with one opinion. I have the money to buy an '09 if I wanted to. I am not jealous of the '09's. But I'm glad you too like your new car...I would hope you do like it and enjoy driving it. Dude, you were always such a cool guy on this site-now it just sound like you and Pete are in cahoots with each other. PLEASE...quit thinking that every 3G owner that expresses some discontent with the new TL is a "hater"....it's overdone and overplayed. Can't everybody just get along????

Honestly, I hope the 4G TL is a HUGE success. That's because I am now an Acura loyalist...no matter what model we're talking about. Whether I like the looks or not. I'm not a huge fan of the RL, but I still hope it does well....because it's an Acura. I'm loyal to the brand and promote the line-no matter what model I'm talking about.

My 1966 Pontiac GTO had that flying buttress style rear window. No chrome on the roof but the rear window was vertical so the buttress was quite a bit more aggressive.

The ran it for only 2 years 1966/67. I have not seen the style since except on some Jaguar sport coupes in the '80s

BEAR-AvHistory uses the correct terminology to describe the rear window frame style: "flying buttress".

Finally! Heading out of Boston today on the Pike. I wasn't in my TL but spotted my first one and it was a SH with an older gentleman and his wife. I am not sure of the state he was from but the closest I could find that looked like that plate was Alabama.. anyone?

I enjoyed my 04 5AT the entire time I owned it. It never let me down. It was and still is a great car. Yes parked next to each the 3G is smaller than the 4G. Today I'm enjoying the 4G. In a few years there will be a 5G - hopefully a better car - even that car can not diminish my enjoyment of the 3G and 4G

whether we drive a 3G or a 4G they both are Acuras
just because we have a made a new friend let us not forget our old friends
we can always talk down to the other brands
this is way over the top - but lets share our pride in the brand

speach over

Jeez, Steve I don't where I went wrong on that post, didn't mean to set you off, I was just commending that a 3G owner said something positive and spoke his mind. I know when I had my 3G and I saw the pics, I felt the same way and I couldn't say what he said. Sorry. By the way, I don't know Pete personally, nor have I even PM'd him. There was a couple of points he made that I agreed with, that's all. I thought we were getting along?

Back to the topic at hand, it's really nice to see this car in that kind of weather. Very impressive picture Hogger! I have to drive 2 hours to see that weather! You poor guys in snow regions are really getting blasted right now, and more is coming your way. LA had about 2" of rain, and the headlines read, "Storm Watch 2008" on the local channels. Now that's real weather right there in that picture! I'm so jealous!

Saw another white one today here in Orlando. Definitely looks better on the street moving, and even better from the back.

I had a 09 w/tech as a loner for about a week (drove it 120 miles a day) and I never saw another 09. I even live down the street from a large Acura dealer but in the Bay Area we love our 2G's and 3G's cuz thats all you see.

Give it time and you will see more. The car grew on me after a few days and I even started not to mind the looks so much

Quick Reply: have you seen a 09 TL on the road other than yours yet?
