2022 MDX - Alarm going off Intermittent

Ive had our 22 MDX for about 4 weeks now and since the last week the alarm has gone off at various times intermittently - sometimes during the day and most of the time overnight at weird hours 2-3am.

The car is parked inside a closed garage. This is what happens :

1. Car locks properly. The side mirroes fold and I hit the lock button twice and hear the beep.
2. Alarm goes of with the horn.
3. I hrab the Key FOB and hit unlock and the alarm stops. Sometimes I have to hit unlock more than once before the alarm shuts off.
4. I go outside check the doors again and re-arm the alarm. Sometimes it doesent act up - other times it starts going off again 3-5 mins later.
5. Last night this happened twice - finally I just unlocked the car and left it unlocked for the rest of the night.
7. The strange part is the alarm didnt go of for the remainder of the night but went of again at 9am the next morning - despite the car being left unlocked.

I had enough of this and took it to my dealer today. He kept the car a few hours, ran scans and didnt find any errors or any issues with the doors. He returned the car to me but Im skeptical that the alarm will go off again.

Anyone had this issue or has any insight into what could be the problem ? Im surprised this is happening with a brand new vehicle to be honest.

You mentioned the dealership checking the doors. Did they mention checking the battery or other electronic components? Car could be brand new, but the battery may not be. Could be old when installed or even faulty. If it isn't the battery, sounds like you may have an electrical gremlin they will need to find somehow. Good luck.

I've never heard of the alarm going off with the vehicle being unlocked. There should also be alarm sensors for the hood and hatch along with the doors. I agree with moose66 about checking voltage levels and any other intermittent issue you might have noticed (memory seats, station presets, starting issues, fob range, etc...). It could be something as simple as a loose ground wire somewhere. I find my previous Acuras hate low voltage and most issues are symptoms of other issues compared to being the exact cause. I have a battery charger with volt reading and that has help me trouble-shoot and narrow down battery, alternator, and power drain issues on previous Acuras.

Thanks for responding folks.

I called the dealer and he told me they checked the battery and voltage - all green. He also told me they would change the battery on the key fobs - just need to go in anytime during the day.

The only gremlin I remember is getting a Brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced error. That came up one morning and went away. The dealer scanned and said he didnt find any sign of that either and it never appeared since although I think theres a TSB out for it....

Something is not right with the alarm module.

The alarm should not be armed with unlock door(s), and unarmed alarm should not go off since it is not armed.

Or, the alarm arms without locking all doors.

Either way, the alarm module is not functioning properly.

So the update - the issue persisted even after the car came back from the dealer. I changed both batteries on the FOBs to be on the safe side and after 1 night of peace the issue happened again. Uninstalled the Acura Link app = pretty desperate at that point but the issue didnt go away. Finally went back to the dealer and left the car with them since yesterday morning - they told me this afternoon they think there is a problem with the battery and they will replace it and keep the car for another day to see if it happens again.

I asked about the module but they said without an error code being thrown they cant justify touching the module ...pretty annoying but lets see if the battery solves the problem.

i had this same warning about the brake system show up just once about two weeks ago. It went away after restart. Hasn’t happens since and the dealer advised that is not a concern unless it reappears. Here is a pic of the warning:

Did you find a solution to the alarm randomly going off? Over the past few weeks I have dealt with a 2023 MDX alarm going off overnight, car unlocked.
