Doesn't look like they revised their HP numbers to reflect the new SAE rating.

I dislike the new front bumper and the rear lights on the g35, doesn't look right. I agree the clock in the fx has to relocated. Worst position possible.

I HATE Nissan steering wheels, other than that, they've been doing pretty good lately.

^^ I dont know man, i seem to like them. I had a loaner 05 G35 for a week, and loved the steering wheel controls. Not only can you change the volume/track but you can also change the disc and so on and so forth. I know those are just more distractions but they come in handy at times .

I thought they did already. On infinitinews, it said the QX56's new SAE rating and it was exactly the same. Toyota and honda's hp numbers went down significantly

New Infiniti G35 to Debut at New York Auto Show « » 9:03 AM 11-9-2005

New Infiniti G35 to Debut at New York Auto Show
By Christie Schweinsberg

WardsAuto.com, Nov 7 2005

The midsize luxury car has been a brand-defining product for the Infiniti range in the U.S.

Nissan North America Inc.'s Infiniti luxury brand will debut the next-generation G35 lineup at the New York Auto Show in April.

Jed Connelly, senior vice president-sales and marketing, NNA, tells Ward's the '07 midsize luxury sedan and coupe will take the vehicle “to the next level. We're thrilled with it,” he says.

Current Infiniti G35

The midsize luxury car has been a brand-defining product for the Infiniti range in the U.S. Following its March 2002 debut, Infiniti sales went from 52,630 units in 2001 to 70,973 in 2002, with the G35 accounting for 34,775 vehicles.

Sales of the G35 stand at 57,521 units through October, down 2.1% from the same period year-ago, according to Ward's data.

Despite debuting just three and half years ago, the G35 has aged fast as restyled entrants, such as the Lexus GS and BMW 5-Series, have stolen some of its market share.

“It's nice that in three short years other people have seen us as the target (competition),” Connelly says.

He declines to describe specific changes to the G35's new styling, but says, “We understand what we have is a really good thing, and we're going to be careful with it,” indicating the '07 G35's looks won't be too radical a departure from the '03 model.

Meanwhile, Connelly says Nissan plans to show a refreshed Quest minivan at February's Chicago Auto Show.

The '07 model, which will get a restyled interior, complete with new instrument panel, should help boost the vehicle's sales, which have slipped 12% calendar-year-to-date.

Connelly blames a stagnant minivan segment and tough competition for softening sales, adding early quality issues – and not its styling – also have played a role in the Quest's under-performance in the U.S. market.

Another divisively styled vehicle, the Infiniti FX cross/utility, will get a refresh next year, with the '06 model going on sale in January.

Connelly blames tough competition in the growing midsize luxury CUV segment for the FX's January-October 11.3% sales decline, not faulting its edgy styling. (See related story: Midsize Luxury CUVs Struggle to Find Success)

“I think the styling is the strength of the vehicle,” he says of the FX. “We realized when we built the vehicle that it was polarizing. You either love it or hate it, but that is what you want. That is what we wanted anyway.”

Hell yeah. Look forward to seeing it. Interesting, this gen G will have a four year cycle. I hope the next one has longer legs (since I may be getting one).

Agreed. It's been an issue since the G's release because of it's larger than 3-Series/C-Class size for the segment, but the M is the clear competitor to the GS and 5. The same debate has been had over the CTS, but the STS is again the competitor for that class.

I think the sedan has aged a little. Coupe still looks hot.

I hope the refresh on the sedan makes its a much more attractive car.

I hope the interior on the new G is as nice as the M35/45 in a smaller package but bigger then the IS350's.

Not really. My dad looked at a G35 sedan before he bought his 545i.

It won't. The FX competes with the MDX. Infiniti's upcoming small SUV, the CX, will compete with the upcoming RDX.

Interesting the called it the G"35," and not just G. Looks like those rumors of a 4.3L, 320HP VQ engine are unfounded.

well, IMO they're in different segment...not many will cross shop a G35sedan and a 545...i mean, that's like ~$20k difference

I'm excited myself! I'm hoping just hoping that the next gen G35 coupe maybe will have AWD as an option? The next gen G35 coupe or sedan or even the CX may be my next car I'm hoping. I'm going to keep my TSX though. It will become the everyday beater.

They are truely in a diff segment, but that doesn't mean that the mentioned vehicles couldn't steal sales.

I think the new G35 will definitely be a perfect competitor to the new 3 series.
When magazine reviews come out, I'm thinking it'll be a close call for the 1st place between the G35 and 330i. The IS350 will be below them, at 3rd place.

I can't wait till the NY auto show.

Not to overstate what's totally obvious, Edmunds clearly states that the 3-series and IS are the G's competitors.

That said, I wonder how many 3G TL owners cross shopped the Civic EX first.

Probably be a more aggressive version of the m-series - in looks and performance...hopefully they move up to a 6-speed auto.

In todays' gas worried market, the G will have to offer a less powerfull and more fuel efficient model to compete with 325, C280, IS250, TSX. It might not sell well, but even Caddy added the 2.8L V6 to the CTS lineup. So, I would look for a less powerful high volume model to come out this time around. Some 220HP 2.5-3.0 L V6 that will be just ahead of everyone else in the segment but which can get over 30MPG on the highway.

While lots of folks are gushing over the 306HP IS350 and its supposed great milage early indications seem to point to pretty low numbers - like less than 20MPG. There is no magic formula that anyone has come up with yet that can get around the limitations of the internal combustion engine - you want more power - it's gona use more gas.

I was thinking the same thing. Something tells me if it was another V6, it'd be a 2.5L VQ rated at around 235-245HP, which is entirely possible from that engine. The interesting thing is, there will be a smaller displacement engine in the Infiniti lineup in the near future. The 2.5L I4 that will be the CX's base engine. The G may possibly get that, for a base. Personally, I would have loved to see a smaller V6 in the CX for a base engine in that SUV. As far as the mileage, I certainly hope it gets decent mileage. Does the VQ get direct injection?

You are right... it's nice to have something to be excited about when the NY auto show (or any auto show) comes around...

This is one of only a couple of cars that I'm genuinely interested in seeing (a new acura coupe, and the bmw M2 coupe for the usa being 2 others).

I personally am a G35 fan - in my opinion it is the best looking Infiniti sedan - the M series just looks too dowdy and clumsy. The G is just right. However, I didn't get it because of its rather poor gas mileage and the lack of folding rear seats (same for the TL!). Instead, I got the TSX. Though I am very happy with my TSX, I am still looking forward to getting something more powerful next time.... maybe with the next G35? That said, the Acura Concept 4 sedan looks really hot! It's supposed to be the next TSX too........ hmm.....
