God damn it... I luv that car. Nothing but solid improvements. The two different hp outputs is a bit hokey, though. They should just use the 298hp engine all around... looking forward to seeing the pics.

So 3.5 liters and 300HP. Nice. I wonder what the torque is and where all this stuff is happening on the rpm range. If you think about it, this engine still has a ton of power to show when we consider that 333HP comes from 3.2 liters in the M3's case. At 350HP this will be a 100 HP per liter type of situation. Which is not completely impressive these days for special cars.

Sigh, the next model up RL has a 3.5 liter and 300horses. Lexus has 300 horses out their V-8s. I can see the marketing Infiniti will be using now. good for them..
Now if they could just do what they do for the G35 to the REST of the lineup...

Infiniti will eventually release the GTR which may even be more expensive than anything that Lexus has. If its gonna push the estimated 480 hp, Infiniti will finally have a halo car worthy to compete with the German Marquees. Unfortunately, they could learn a thing or two from Lexus in the interior appointments department
Funny but the 1st gen GS, had a 4 speed until 1997, the 5 speed dropped times about a second.
So tranny is just as important as more power. Clearly Nissan has this figured out with the VQ but not the 4.5....
The new M45 should be a 6-under 6 second to 60 mph car. The fastest I've seen the current M45 is 5.7 to 60mph and the slowest 6.3.

At first this makes sense, but then I am thinking of the Maxima making 255 and think Infinitis are right where they should be.

The M will be a BEAST. But comparing the M45 with it's V8 would be unfair; I'm guessing the M35 have atleast the 298hp found in the 6mt sedan, which puts it right with the RL, while have more torque than the RL and less weight with RWD when compared with AWD (FWD 70% of the time). Infiniti definitiely needs to develop at least a 6sp, but something tells me it's still gonna wipe the floor with the competition.

350Z probably will make 300 horses.
For the next gen G35, 300horses will be marketed like crazy!

Here's a list of all the changes:
350Z Coupe
The high performance Nissan Z®, which comes with a standard 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine, has sold over 70,000 units since its introduction to the U.S. market in August 2002. The stylish, 287-horsepower 350Z continues the Z heritage of design, performance and value that has remained unchallenged since the original Datsun 240Z was introduced 35 years ago as a 1970 model. In 2005, the 350Z adds only minor enhancements.
Enhancements to the 2005 350Z Coupe:
· Standard Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS)
· Clutch pedal effort has been reduced for easier operation
· 5-speed automatic transmission features downshift rev matching
· Standard driver’s seat front and rear lifter
· Heated outside mirrors
· Faster navigation system processor for improved route calculation times
· Newly available Ultra-Yellow exterior color (Liquid Aluminum exterior no longer available)

yes but the G35 is heavier right? SO even if they are par as far as acceleration, that's still acceptable. After all, why does the Z have to be faster than the luxury G? It's like saying that the Accord coupe should be faster than a hypothetical CL.

Agreed. G35 sales are down. The TL is selling like hotcakes with just 1 more expensive model.

Think someone in the Z thread said there was an Anniversary Edition Z on the way. If so, I would expect it to have more power than the standard Z like the Anniversary Edition Maxima did.
