Yeah, I was going to heat them up as well. But they popped right on for me by applying pressure equally and so far they sit flush and snug on there...though I do get nervous one of these times that one of them will pop off while I'm driving. Especially since they're not exactly cheap to replace!

my friend just mentioned that he knows someone who has Continental's and they keep getting bubbles when hitting a pothole. NYC has many of them, unfortunately.

When I first got my 530's, (18x8.75 +20) I tried a 5mm spacer in the rear. I didn't actually drive around with it, just mounted it up to see and what I discovered was A). It looked like the tire (225/40/18) would rub on the fender over every big dip because it was now at a +15 offset. and B) The spacers would interfere with the poly-carbonate hubcentric ring (which is needed for these wheels to mount up and stay balanced to the hub). So I said F the spacers and just did it right and got SPC rear control arms so I could correct my negative camber to a degree of my choosing for a flush look in the rear. They rears were a bit sunken in before, after I installed the camber kits they are now flush, and even have a bit of poke (depending on how much negative camber I run). However, most of this information might be irrelevant to you if you are not planning on lowering.

I definitely plan on lowering the car but taking it one step at a time. It makes more sense that you've mentioned this. I will take a look into this.

ok I have M12x1.5 gorilla lug nuts from discount tire. I think they are tuner style. These will fit the xxr530 right?

as long as they are spline lug nuts. you need a skinny socket to get in there

so I've decided on 225/40/18 Continentals. I love the stretch look of the tire. and Muteki's fit too right?

Do the wheels require ball seat or conical lugs? The ones i have are spline conical.

I am running the same size tire on 18x8.75+20 527s, fit is pretty aggressive, but no rubbing. I rubbed bad in the rear when I had 235/40 on, I ended up rolling the fenders in the rear. With camber arms I could really dial in the fitment, but I am waiting to go lower first.

They require conical like most aftermarket wheels

Interesting. I was going to go 225 all around and still roll in my fenders. I plan on lowering with Tein SA. As you mentioned, is it ideal to go with 235 in the rear?

I dont think Ideal, you can run more of a stock camber with the 225 and have zero chance of rubbing especially with rolled fenders. I personally like the amount of stretch the 225 gives as well.

I have heard good things about continentals extreme contact. I would strongly suggest you go with a 225 tire all around. You will get much more life out of your tires as you can rotate them every 5,000 miles. 235 in the rear and 225 up front means you can't rotate tires.

Understood. Ordering the tires soon along with the 530s. Afterwards the Tein SA. Anything else I'm missing? What about the control arms? I'm sorry, I'm an amateur, fresh of the boat with this.

No worries man. Everyone here on A-zine was new at one point. As far as camber kit, i would wait till after you install your coilovers. Get an alignment done and get your hands on that alignment sheet and see exactly how much negative camber you are running in the rear. Depending on how low you are, you may not even need to correct camber. I have SPC rear control arms and they are great. Gives you full adjust ability from 2.0 to -4.0 camber. They were around $70 a piece.

Seems like you have most everything you need. Make sure you have the right kind and size of lug nuts. And you are going to need poly carbonate hubcentric rings. 64.1/73.1 size I think? Don't quote me on that. Someone else chime in here please.

For stretching the tires, I don't know such places that do so around me and since I'm an amateur, I don't wanna risk it. Did you guys do it at home or have someone else do it?

what are you stretching? 225 on an 8.75 wheel is not considered stretching. 225 can be put onto a wheel up to 9" per discount tire's "chart"

plus almost impossible to put on a tire at home if you don't have the equipment, stretched or not. no big box store will put on a tire that's too narrow for a wheel, but you'll find luck at a private shop. but i'm betting that you're not actually stretching for your setup

I just didn't want that bubbly, bulging over the wheel, look. So I was reading on about stretching and thought it would work. Guess I didn't do my research properly.

Yeah 225 on 8.75 is not a stretch. Take it to any tire shop to have them mounted. Should be piece of cake

It will still be a slightly stretched look. You will have to be very careful with curbs as you will have minimal sidewall.

bubbly, bulging over the wheel is when the tire is much larger than the wheel, the opposite of stretching.

stretching is when the rim sticks way past the tire

more research!! haha

I agree here, you may not even need camber kits either. I am on BC's , my set up was 18x8.75 +35, so you will be out further like 15mm like a 1/2 inch, but I was running 235/40 rubber, ran 24" from ground to fender in front and 24.5" in the rear - only rubbed on the fender tab in fronts so i had to grind those down, and rolled the fronts. i haven't had the need to run camber kits yet, this is with the 530's

my new set up 18x10 +25 with 245/40 -1.6 camber in front -2.4 camber in rear, tow zeroed out, still no needing to run camber kits...tire wear hasn't been a problem

Just picked up a set off a fellow member here Black Chromium 18x8.75 et20. I am having them wrapped in Continental DW 225/40/R18 I will take pictures and post once I get them done so all the people can visually see how they look and what kind of "stretch" the tire will have. Have to wait until the 15th though... That is the next time I can get to the shop to put tires on. Ill post as soon as I get them on!

i'd recommend going with the dws06...its' the updated version of the DWS tires (which are similar to the DW).

and just as another note, the continentals typically have a narrow tread pattern so it may look slightly more stretched than another brand.

Yeah man, I always ran gold/bronze colored wheels, I ordered my gold wheels back when the thread was at like 4 or 5 pages only lol...everyone was opting for the chromium black (and they look good) but got to be different lol

Are you referring to the badges on the car? the Acura emblems? the gold o the wheels is not super shiny, kind of a blend between matte and gloss - so if you made the emblems gold, would need to tone down the blingness, might be okay

225 on a 8.75 wheel will not be a stretch, if anything barely - 225 is roughly 8.85" - you wheel is 8.75" i agree though, conti's run narrow from what I have heard. I did the 235 on a 8.75" wheel -

I used 235/40 Nitto Motivos
Name: 20151015_164301.jpg

so you can see better - 235 pretty much sits flush on the wheel face, so 225 will be slightly behind it, won't have to worry about barrel showing...

Tires are already ordered. These are summer wheels only. No need for an All-Season! Thanks for the suggestion though.

Any performance issues running the 225-18 on the 530 8.75. Cornering or speed issues with balance? Lowered or non-lowered? I drive pretty aggressively.

Looking for a source for 4 530 8.75 - 18 +20, gold and 5 hole.
Every source I see is either 8 hole or a staggered set only. I'd rather not content with a staggered setup.
I tried eBay, MotorsportsR, nlmotoring

Any clues? Do they even exist?

Thx Trav. Getting ready to pull the trigger on 4 225s and didn't want any surprises at 90mph on semi stretched tires. Michelins are nice. Looking at the BFG Gforce comp 2s
