I hope this doesn't end up falling in the category of "stupid questions",but can the TPMS system be transferred to aftermarket rims or prior to '06 A-Spec rims that were non-TPMS?

Suggest a search. This question has been asked many times before

Yes, the sensors are built into the valve stem, and you can either buy new sensors for your new wheels, or have the tires removed and the sensors removed from your existing wheels. The sensors may not fit on all wheels, so be careful with your selection.

So will the TPMS transfer to 2004-2005 A-Spec rims or not?

Never mind.Found my answers elsewhere.
Man this TPMS BS is a royal PITA.
Why couldn't Acura just design the fukkin TPMS to fit standard freeken wheels.Sheesh.Now wer'e stuck with Acura's crap for wheels if we want to maintain the TPMS,wich mean heavy ass expensive rims that aren't even that great looking.
Good going Acura.

I'm not sure what you mean by stuck with Acura's wheels. My RonJon Inspyre's look great on my 06 WDP. TPMS works fine for me.

I don't care for Ronjons wheels much.Plus they are overpriced.

I have a spare set of TPMS and it looks like it will fit most aftermarket wheels. Only problem I can see is if you go with too low of a profile tire, The TPMS sensors may not fit between the inside of the rim and the tires. The sensors are quite big when I finally saw it. One other important thing is those things has a bit of weight to it. I can see this weight difference being a issue when it comes to trying to balance the wheels correctly after mounting (thus the bigger missing notch in the 06+ wheels to counter the extra weight of the sensors).

I'm not sure if they will fit or not, but the 2006 wheels (std and a-spec) have a little indentation built into the wheel for the TPMS sensor.

Yeah I gathered that much from searching around the site (indentations)
Question is will they go on other rims w/o this indentation?
No sense in looking at all the rims out there if it means giving up a nice feature of the vehicle ya know.
Mainly I'm looking for painted rims, anthracite preferably or gun metal I suppose. Is gun metal pretty much the same as anthracite or?

I was just saying that we (06 owners) are no way stuck with stock wheels because of tpms. I purchased extra sensors from Acura and my tpms works fine in my aftermarket rims. As far as the indentation that you worry about, I looked at my rims before I had my tires mounted and there was nothing there but the sensors mounted up fine. The sensors are mounted to the valve stem and don't require this indentation. I have driven 5000 miles (in the NorthEast in Winter) so far on my rims and no problems.

ps - The hard part is finding a shop to mount the sensors in aftermarket rims.
