Do you put 40 psi with 215/35/19? And why so high? Is it so it's less likely for the tires to pop?

According to my inflation tables
a 235-35-19 should run 35psi and carry the same weight as the 215-50-17 factory tires. I personally would run a little more than that .....but no more that 40psi

Tires that are slightly underinflated are actually less likely to blowout than one that is overinflated, despite the hype due to the explorer tire blowouts a few years back. Also, as you probably already know, since there's more rubber in contact with the road, a lower psi increases traction, stability, and tire wear vs. a higher psi. Of course, if you go too low there is a slightly higher risk of tread separation, as with the explorer, but this was mostly due to a tire defect. From what I've read about it, overinflation is worse because you ride on a more rounded surface that's in less contact with the road - also resulting in less wear on the outside treads.

When you're running wide low profile tires, low inflation can actually cause the center tread to wear more (due to centrifugal forces). Higher pressure keep the sidewalls out.

Since our cars are nose heavy, try 38psi in the front and 35psi in the rear. This should help your car feel more neutral in the corners.
