Question Lowering question, which to do?

Looking for some advice, I am wanting to lower my ride via Springs for awhile until I can save up for RIMs and Tien SS Coilovers. I recently ran across what could be a slick deal. A gent has a pair of h&r springs as well as tokico blues. My question is are my type s struts better, same, worse? The h&r and tokico blues have about 19k on them.

I almost orded some tein springs but ran across this. Just trying to decided which is better =D

h&r with tokico blues
h&r with 08 Type S struts
08 Type S struts with Tien springs

Also it is my understanding that if I put springs on, I should get some c-bolts?
Correct me if I am wrong I believe c = Chamber. Suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Chris.

I had Eibach springs on my oem type s struts and i hated it. Switched to tien sport... love the way it drives and looks. also added some 20/15mm spacers for the wheels.
As for the camber... yeh you will need front and rear camber kit, def. worth the money in long run..

Thumbs down

I should also mention the h&r spring are "h&r race" springs.

And the Tein Springs I was looking at were the Sports. Sorry I didn’t specify.

If you want a permanent drop get springs...why spend $$ on springs just to replace them later - good deal or not. Many have done this and regretted spending that extra money. If you want coilovers, save up and get them.

Did you mean, get Coilovers? I agree, however I just want to run the type s rims for awhile... I have a baby on the way and looking to buy a house... so $200 or $400 isnt to bad... vr $1,200 on coils and another $1,400+ for RIMS and tires you know?

That is why I am asking =D

I'd say save for coils. That $200 or $400 could go to your babies similac, diapers, or wipes. I'm speaking from experience. I too have a baby and I almost went with springs, but it's pointless. Do it right the first time and save up for a little longer for coils. It'll be well worth it.

As bad as I want to say get some good springs and stick with those, maybe im biased, if you have already decided you want coilovers, then I def agree with this guy, save up and do it right the first time

I guess my issue with coilovers is I want the EDFC, I look at coilovers being a complete waste if I just got them for "Lowering my car" Honestly $200 isn’t a lot just to lower my ride. I don’t want to wait, because I will be waiting like a year... I already have a 4year old, so this is my 2nd kid, and honestly I am not worried about that as much. The house part is a different story... so keeping my Type S rims and just getting the car lower is my goal also = less $$. That is why I am asking.

Rough numbers to prove my point.

Springs:

Tein Sports = $200 from a shop “ill put them on myself”

Or

h&r racing springs + tokico blues with 19k on them for $450

Coilovers:

Tien SS = $1,150 + EDFC: $600

I will get my 100 back on either deal for springs when I turn around and sell em. I do not wish to drop $1,750 at the moment or even wait a year =D Rather have my car lower. And wait the year or two and then get the correct set up. Besides prices will drop by then… So honestly in my eyes I see springs as a better route for what I am looking to do “Lower my car” I only go to and from work and chill on the weekends… I am not hitting canyons or anything crazy. I have my Street bike for that =D

Do not get me wrong you guys are making good points. But I’d rather hear opinions on springs =D because either way I feel coilovers are over kill for me right now, shit maybe even for the whole time I have the car… I keep my rides for about four to five years. Then change it up.

I have Tokico Blues and H&R Sport springs. I think it's perfect. Do I want to go lower? Sure, but it's not practical with some of the roads I drive on, so coilovers would have been a big waste of money. I'm lower than some people are that are on coilovers, so I don't understand the huge "coilovers are better", but i guess it depends on the road conditions where you live and if you're ever going to want to adjust them or not.

My tokicos and springs ride perfect, people can't tell the difference when riding in the car. I paid close to $600 with install and am perfectly happy.

Hope this helps somewhat.

IMO $200 is $200 no matter how you look at it. Therefore i say you save yourself $200 and get coilovers. You don't need EDFC right away you can always purchase it later. It took me two years to finally save up the money to get coils and i finally ordered them last month and still waiting as tein is on national back order lol. Just my opinion though.

U wont need the c-bolts w/ lowering springs..if u drop ur car on lowering springs low enough to where u would need c-bolts then ur in for a bad ride n the stock shocks will wear down alot faster. Im pretty low on coils and after an allignment my front allignment numbers were good, maybe like 0.1 off from stock..my rear wasn't, so i got the ingalls.

p.s.
just save for coils pimpin..
