I just modified the top plate for one to ship out today. It didn't take very long if you're desperate to get the coilovers on right away. Or you could knock out one of the studs (the smaller one) and it will fit. I compared it against a stock top plate here and it looks like the small stud can be removed and it will work also.

We should have the plates soon.

Please note: the video is very quick example. In order to be precise in how much you're lowering the ride height, before you do anything, you need to measure the length of the visible threads between the middle and lower perches. As an example, if you want to lower the car by 1/2", then raise/loosen the lower perch by 1/2" and then begin rotating the coilover body INTO the bottom shock collar. After you're done, re-measure the visible thread length and it should be 1/2" shorter than it was originally.

Yeah, if you lowered the middle perches, you screwed up your spring preload. I would get back under there and correct it. When your car is jacked up, the spring should be snug between the top of the shock and that upper spring perch. The ISC directions give you the ideal spring preload height. I believe it should be 175-178mm (~7")...

I don't think you have the shock body screwed all the way into the lower collar. Check out this vid I just made. I have less than an inch of threads showing and it will go A LOT lower.

That is exactly how I lowered it, I have the lower body screwed all the way in. I insure you I can't go lower up front.

As a reminder to all readers,
Callahan's situation is different from other people. His high ride height is probably due to the diet (vehicle weight reductions) plus the 14 kg front springs plus being lighter 6MT.

The diet and spring rates don't have anything to do with how far you can thread the lower collar onto the shock body. Everyone's lower collar and shock body are the same. He verified that his spring preload length is the same as other spring setups as well. So since his visible threads between the perches are 2" and mine are less than 1", I'm highly skeptical about his setup being maxed out.

assure, not insure...or even ensure.
John, I think Tim is saying he is totally slammed down and his ride height is probably different due to less weight up front and the springs being more firm.
GREAT video, though...where the heck were you when I bought my megans for my rsx in 2005!?!?!

Hey Excelerate,
So is it safe to say that there will be delays with new incoming orders for the coilovers due to the new top plates? I am interested in purchasing a set.
Thanks
Jaime

For those curious about how to swap off your "inverted" top plates for the corrected version, here are some DIY pictures:
Old top plate (note, my plates were different than everyone else's because I bought the "trial" set that XLR8 originally offered before the GB, which were actually meant for an Accord):
Use a 3mm allen wrench to remove the 4 bolts holding the top plate on:
Top plate removed:
New plate installed:
I only hand-tightened the 4 bolts. Take your time and be careful not to over-tighten...I almost stripped one of the bolts by accident when I was removing them.
Done:
(Yes, I roll without the stock strut bar...I like the ride better without it)

Top plate is the last thing I'm worried about. I bought my XLR8 mounts 1.5 years ago and my side one broke. I contacted him a month ago and keep getting Casey saying Josh is going to email me but I never get any replies. He tried telling me it was out of warranty, then I checked my PayPal account and saw that it was less than 2 years since purchase. Now my front mount is loose and about to break.
What do I do?
I guess I'm gonna start a thread in the main section and see what other options people can help me with.

I've seen threads like that go horribly wrong...contact him one more time first and ask him to please rectify or give you some sort of suitable solution before you take it there. Just my opinion, but from what I've seen...the vendors are a lot more likely to help you find a solution when you give them an opportunity to. After almost 2 years and not knowing mileage and conditions they've seen, I could see him saying it may not be covered under warranty and you may have to swallow having it repaired.

I'm not an asshole nor am I trying to hurt their business in any way. If you ask, I was the first one to install the ISC and notified him asap about the problem. I also didn't post it here and blow the problem. I just posted my solution after we spoke. I didn't ask for a reimbursement or anything for the extra time my shop charged to drill the plate and install it. So don't take me the wrong way.
I'm just getting upset now because it's been a month since I first contacted him and I've been trying to get it warrantied. Before it was a crack in the mount, and 2 weeks ago it's been completely broken . What really annoyed me was that he assured me it was over 2 years since I bought it and I was out of warranty but he would do me a "favor" and try to warranty it, but I had to go on my paypal to look up and see that it was less.
No my coilovers are good for now lol.

If you don't have your top plate by the end of this week PM or email me. All of them have shipped.

sunny, looks like things are getting resolves so it's awesome. Honestly, the majority of these threads with some reputable vendors ends up being a lack of communication. It's the downfall of all relationships, business or otherwise. Something to consider.

Since the "issue" seems to be resolved, a mod should come in here and clean up the OT posts.

Also, as we have mentioned, sometimes there are some hiccups when releasing a new product but we worked to resolve it and everyone has been taken care of. We hope everyone is happy with the final product and sorry for the inconvenience.
