I lowered the bottom part as much as possible. Then I put them on. Then I started lowering the top part and the spring was movable up and down just a tad bit (so barely any preload like you said) and then left it there. I want to go lower but am waiting for the suspension to settle in. Anyone have an idea of how long it takes to settle in?

The spring preload should be snug without any play. When you say "barely any preload" it almost sounds like you have the springs loose between the perches, which is not what you want.

That's how it was. Can you explain (or link to something that explains) why not? If that's not good that means I can't go any lower Or maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way and need more preload. I'm confused now lol.

Look, I don't mean to bust balls, but "an email to the manufacturer"? Seriously?

Maybe it's just me, but in my business it would be phone, email, fax, carrier pigeon, smike signals, semafore until I tracked someone down to yell at for a fuck up of this magnitude.

I think we can all calm down a bit. There's talk of being cheated and some overreaction here. If we disappeared into the night or you didn't get a coilover then you would be cheated. That is not occurring. We will get the manufacturer to resolve the issue. I am waiting for a solution.

For those of you want an immediate solution it has been listed in the posts above: either flipping the top mount or removing a stud. If you look at many of the coilovers on the market the TL 04-08 and Accord 03-07 are listed as the same although they have different top mounts. It is perfectly fine to remove a stud. However, it was also designed so that all 6 studs should work. So we will come up with a permanent solution for those who would like to wait for one.

Hello Josh, I want to first state that I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest here or attack you or your business is anyway. All I'm trying to convey to you is the view from our standpoint, the consumer. All in all we appreciate the business that you run and all the helpful posts in this forum. That being said, I must say that when I first heard about these I was extremely excited and was actually the first on the list to put a deposit on these. We knew it was going to be a little wait for these to come in, but we all thought, hell yeah at this price we can hold off a little while. Well then here we are at the end of April and beginning of May, and we are just receiving them, when it was stated far earlier on one of the pages that they would come in beginning of April latest. Yes, they got caught up in customs which is out of everyone's control, but we still anxiously await their arrival, like a child waiting for Xmas morning. Now the day finally comes and we open up the box to see they are manufactured wrong! Now we all just spent $850 which is not cheap by any means and we have to now modify a brand spanking new piece of equipment that we again spent $850 on. That's just not acceptable. These are not some $10 part that you know when you get it somethings going to have to be corrected to make it fit. I don't think anyone is really overreacting here. Guys are entitled to their opinion so if they feel cheated in someway that's how they feel. It's more or less the feeling of being let down. We had high hopes were we getting this awesome piece of equipment at a great price and then BAM, a punch to the kidney when we see it's manufactured wrong. You may not think it's a big deal to have to modify them, but maybe it is to some. I know I don't want to, but I will probably suck it up and take the one stud out because I don't feel like waiting around for the manufacturer to answer an email at their earliest conveinence. I just think on your part this could be handled better. We know you didn't build them and it's not really your fault, but you are the front man we have been dealing with and we ordered them from you. Not once did you even say sorry to us, the consumer, for this whole issue. We know it's not your fault, but we all would have liked to hear, "I'm really sorry for this inconvenience to everyone, but I'm going to do everything I can to rectify the situation." Instead you told us to calm down and we are overreacting and that's just not fair. If you paid $850 for something that was supposed to be specifically manufactured to fit your vehicle directly, wouldn't you be just a little upset that it needed to be modified in some way in order for it to fit? And the kicker is these would have been $1,000 of there was no group buy, so guys are essentially modifying a $1,000 piece of equipment. Again, I'm really not trying to attack you personally, but I think you should hear our side of the story because after all without us, the consumer, there is no you. Thanks for your time.

I just opened mine up. Yep same thing, but only one side. One is right and one is wrong. This is messed up.
I'm thinking what i should do now... I don't wanna touch brand new part to fit in. This doesn't make sense at all. I might sending them back. We'll see.

Eek, it sounds like you're trying to lower the car by lowering the perch the spring sits on which is NOT how you're supposed to do it. Once you set the preload (top perch snug against the bottom of spring so there's no play), you install the coilover and never loosen that perch again. Otherwise the performance of the coilovers will be affected. To raise/lower the car, you ONLY thread the bottom collar up and down the shock body, which in turn, shortens or lengthens the entire length of the coilover assembly.

I see what you're talking about, but I don't see why it would be any reason to be concerned. Just install them and be happy!!

Notice how the installed length of the spring is shorter than the uninstalled length. This means the spring should be slightly compressed between the top plate and the perch of the ISC's. Then the middle locking perch should be snug against the top perch so the preload stays put. As the above pic mentions, the amount of preload is usually a specific amount determined by the manufacturer. I can't remember if the instructions that came with the ISC's specifically listed a target preload.

Thanks for the help ebelp! I did not know anything about that. If that's the case though then that means I'm completely lowered as much as possible, which is not what I like to hear . I want to go at least another .5"-1" lower. When I installed I lowered the bottom shock body as much as possible.

Found that link useful for adjustments and understanding of them lol. My Tein's only had one way to adjust if I remember correctly so I did not notice the difference.

As I said in a previous post, we are working to get this resolved. I just found out about this issue yesterday morning and since the manufacturer is in Taiwan we need a couple days to coordinate a solution. It will likely be a new top mount with the studs oriented correctly. No one is being asked to modify the coilovers or to pound sand. Be patient please while we find a solution. Thank you.

No, actually we sent a top mount for the TL to ISC for the design of this. The initial prototype set had Accord top mounts. Again, you can use Accord top mounts but we wanted a direct plug and play. Obviously, the manufacturer inverted one side of the top mounts.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I don't think it matters what setup you ordered since the manufacturer inverted the whole design of the top hats.

Guys i know this is frustrating....first to pay and wait and then to see a wrong top hat in the box....

but what you gotta take away from this is XLR8 is here and is helping out....he is not just running away from the situation....I have worked with many vendors and when a new product comes out there are some problems and snags which the vendor himself cant do anything about....what we know Josh will come through for all the members here....

as i mentioned i know its frustrating coz a lot of $$$ is involved but hold onto your horses and this will turn out just fine....think about this from XLR8's point of view....he might have paid the manufacturer long back and to see this he might be shocked too....i bet he would have checked the coilovers in his facility before shipping em out but everyone was waiting so eagerly so he just shipped em out....

I think that we're all sympathetic to the vendor - I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm annoyed at the situation and coupled with the cut above the coil, I'm finding it hard to stay confident that these are the only two quality control issues. That said, ebhelp has them and thus far has had no problem; and I'm sure the vendor will go over the next batch with an electron microscope before they are shipped.

As I said above, provided the communication stays regular (so far, so good), I'm sure we're all reasonable enough to see this issue through to its eventual resolution.

I don't think anyone is blaming Josh here. We all know he wasn't the one manufacturing them and we know he wants to make it right. Things happen and people make mistakes, which was made by the manufacturer in this case. I just think that we the consumer wanted to see a little more urgency from him, ex: making a direct phone call instead of just emailing or at least some type of apology. We know it's not his fault, but he's the front man and should feel bad that this happened to his customers. Now I'm not saying he doesn't feel bad that it happend, but if he does it sure wasn't expressed in anyway to us. Instead we were told to calm down and that we were overreacting. I don't know about you Swoosh, but people don't just throw around $850 and take it lightly when something isn't right. I'm sure once they get over the initial shock of it all and let it sink in like I am doing, people will calm down and being to relax. But you really can't fault people for being mad. I've calmed down a lot already and have accepted the fact that I will probably just take out one stud to make these work. I want these installed some time this year and if it took the time it did for the manufacturer to get these produced and shipped out to us, summer will probably be over before they even make and then ship out new top hats to everyone. I am just sad to see the manufacturer dropped the ball on this one to begin with.

No problem! I still don't think we're on the same page though. If you lowered the bottom shock collar all the way, you were making the overall coilover length longer, meaning you were making the car taller. You need to thread the lower shock collar onto the shock body, not away from it!

Plus, if you were as low as you could go on these coilovers, your rims would be tucked about an inch up in the wheel wells. I still have at least an inch lower I could go on mine and I'm sitting lower than you:

Jack you car back up, make sure the spring preload is set, and then adjust that lower collar (the opposite direction) and your car will be slammed in no time. Remember, if you want to make the car lower, make the overall length of the coilover assembly shorter.

Yeah I know but I was just hoping but anyhow I got my coils. Only one plate is backwards and honestly it looks like it'll only take a min to fix so, it's not so to bad. This is my first set of coils, should be s great experience. I can't wait to install them Thursday!

Good luck with the install! And yeah at least it's only one side. Wish it was no sides, but removing one stud from one side shouldn't be a big deal unless you plan on flipping the top hat over and doing all the extra re-drilling.

Lol, well I guess that depends on how many guys are going to modify the top hat or wait for the new one to be sent before you see pics. I won't have pics until May 16th.

Ok so all That is needed for the one coil that doesn't fit is to tap out one of studs in the top part? And also the preload is set already? So all I need to do Is install and adjust height?

The preload should already have been set by the manufacturer, but you should double check it just in case it's too loose. Everything else you said is correct.
