Anyone running 255/40/18's and lowered?
I should have my A-spec wheels/suspension by this time next week and want to get the tires ordered now as well. I'm torn between the 245/40/18's and 255/40/18's. I've seen some have run the 255, but after all of my searching the archives I have yet to fund someone lowered running this combo?
Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks,
Travis

To me it just seems like 255's is overkill considering the stock A-Spec 18's are 235. My guess is that with the 255's on the A-Spec wheels and suspension you won't have a rubbing problem but it is just a guess. Good luck.

255/40/18's
I upgraded to the a-spec 18's (8.5" wide).
If you are getting the 8" new ones, 255's will work but for me would offer too much flex w/255's.
the 245/40/18's are perfect for the 18 8 1/2's. just right.
the 235/40's on the 8's will scar your rims just like the 17" stockers did with 235's.
If you are getting the 8 1/2's, the 255 will be fine, but I like the 245's..

I will likely be lowering with Comptech's (because I really like how the drop looks, and everyone comments on the 'near stock' ride).
So, you think the 255's on either comptech or A-spec would clear (do you think you've got that much clearance inside and out)? (obviously it's a bit of a guesstimate)
Thanks again for your help,

I installed the 255s on the 8.5" genmetal TL rims. No problems at all. But I did not install A-Spec springs that will lower the car 1/2". You are asking about the difference essentially between the 245 vs 255. The width difference between the two sizes is about 1/2". The overall diameter difference is 3/10". These are very small increases. Remember the A-Spec springs are stiffer than stock and the rebound rate won't be as much as stock. Not having heard if anyone has done what you are proposing I really don't think you will have any problems.

I appreciate your input though, thanks for the post. Have you looked behind the wheel to see what kind of clearance you have for mechanicals/shocks/etc.? 1/2 - 1" is quite a bit to lower, this is my concern.
Thanks!
