Received my new H&R springs

Received my new H&R springs
I am going to have the Acura dealer install them next week. I purchased these over the RSRs as they have a lower spring rate and are progressive. In H&Rs marketing as well they state they provide a like stock comfortable ride which I am hoping for.
Here is a pic:
I am also going to get these wheels in 20x10 et 40mm and 20x8.5 et 35mm. I am going to run 275/30/20 rear and 245/35/20 front. The tires I am going to run will either be Nitto Motive, Nitto Invo, or Continental DWS as they are a lot cheaper than most other decent tires and are supposed to provide smooth quiet rides while giving good performance.

I also bought a set I will have installed in a week. I called H&R two weeks ago and asked if the will be a specific application for the AWD. He told me to call back in about 4-6 weeks to know for sure. He said they were about finished testing for AWD. He didn't want to say for sure but it was looking like it would NOT be a different part but the same. I was suspecting this when the RSR application is the same all across he board (4, V6 FWD and AWD). Also in another post someone thought in previous generation of the TL it was different from the Type-S. 09-14 on H&R website only has an application for the SH-AWD TL. 04-08 was two separate applications for the TL vs TL type-S. The part 51846 is the same for (6 cyl Accord 13-15, TLX 4cyl, V6, FWD) this was good enough for me to buy a set.

Well mine is FWD so H&R actually has a part number. Apparently they ride a little more compliant than the RSRs as the rates are lower and they do seem like they will be good as you can literally compress them with just your hand on the "dead coil" portion. This makes me believe the first part of the progressive action will be a good ride.

100% honesty, no offence taken, I was just being lazy haha Thanks for your response though Looking forward to seeing your updated car with drop and wheels.

I am getting the springs installed today at my Acura Dealer, they are charging me $600 to install and do alignment, which in my opinion is a relative screwing, but if I have any problems at least I have big reputable Acura dealer to honor their work.

Here are some pics:
The ride is not bad at all. A bit firmer than stock, but not harsh. I still do have the factory 17" wheels however so I am sure it will stiffen more when I put my 20s on next week. If definitely hugs turns a lot better. The all wheel steering is awesome now that its lowered it just graps through the turns.
The springs are progressive so the smaller bumps are well absorbed, but when you hit abrupt bumps like construction elevation changes where you run over like a 1-2" dropoff or step up are firm, but not bad. I am used to running coilers on my past vehicles, but wanted to save some coils as this is a lease. I would say a nice set of coilovers would ride a bit better, but not $1500 better.
The drop looks decent so far, we'll see how it looks with my 20s wheels on it next week sometime.

Measured from floor to bottom of fender lip through center of wheel and the rear measured 27 1/4 inches and the front measured 27 1/8 inches. I think the rear measured a smidge higher as the camber lifted the rear with the tire tilting in and that is your 1/8" difference from front to rear. Once I get an alignment it should be dead level.
Damn I can't wait to get my wheels put on.

Looking good! I have the same impression regarding bumps with my springs. The concrete streets around where I works are falling apart and lots of cracks, pot holes, bad repairs, etc. I wish I could get a smoother ride and still have the lowered look. I love the stance the car has with the wheels and perfect (IMO) offset with the rims but the ride tends to be much harsher than I'd prefer....
Sacrifices must be made!
Anyway, keep us informed on progress.

Yea im going to run the same tires on mines set up. Yea i been tryna search all over Forums, instagram and everything lol. Btw how much did the dealer charge you to install the springs?

They bent me over, but I accepted as I knew I'd have my warranty and if I ever had any issue they couldn't blame it on the installer. They did it, they own it )
They charged me $600 which included an alignment which I have not done yet.

Call excellerate performance, they are a site vendor and that is where I ordered mine from. They will tell you rates and are knowledgable about their products. They advised me to get H&R over RSR because they are a smoother ride.

Ride looks awesome sincity!! Love the drop, and I'm glad it's a quality ride. We have these same springs as a confirmed fitment for the SH-AWD. I can't comment on how exactly their performance will change being on the SH-AWD. It would be great if someone who has one and installs these could leave a review!

I have the SH-AWD and a set of these gambling it was a same fitment. The Acura dealership I got my car from refuses to do. The other quoted me $800 without alignment. I have a friend who is a Mazda dealership mechanic who is willing to do it for $550 with alignment. Hopefully this weekend. I keep you updated.

After a couple hundred miles of driving the springs seem to have settled all the way, the past several drives I went over some bad roads and the measurements have stayed exactly the same.....27 1/8 inches front and 27 1/4 inches rear.
The springs ride very well, however you can feel when the run out of travel and shock bottoms out on the bump stop. I hope Koni comes out with some replacements soon as the stock shocks are very mediocre. The springs themselves though ride great and are riding better each time I drive.

Installed H&R part 51846 on 2015 white TLX SH-AWD tech.
Before with stock Eagle Ls2
Then installed with Michelin Pilot AS/3 V rated 225/50/18
I installed the tires about a week before. Things I noticed about the tires:
A smidgen more road noise.
More road feel in a good way.
Much better grip. I had a few corners I liked to slide around. Now the tires just grip.
Rim guard so no worries about gashing rim against curbs.
After H&R spring install with stock shocks and front bump stops cut 0.75" per manufacturer
Amazing control
No more squat on acceleration or dive on braking. I didn't realize the stock springs did that until after I felt the difference.
Before if I swerved across three lines of traffic it felt kinda scary at 70-80. Now it feels in total control.
Much more road feel. I can feel the bumps but not harsh or jolting at all. I have gone over train tracks and varing road conditions. Every once in a while when going into parking lots or large speed bumps the back will thud as if it bottomed out or is it fully rebounded? It is not annoying to me though. I don't feel that in the front just in back. To compare I rented a car a few weeks ago on vacation where I rented a 2014 civic and I felt the bumps, clunks and thuds from that suspension more so. At freeway speeds it does rebound faster up and down so even it can perceived as more bounce (not multiple bounciness just a single controlled quick rebound) then a cloud with the stock springs. I don't do a lot of long distance freeway driving so it is undetermined if that would be annoying or not. I think the more I get use to it I probably won't notice it as much. When flying around a 90 degree turn it is pure joy!
1-1.5 finger gap between tire and fender, depending on how fat one's finger is. Approximately 3/4inch gap front and 1 inch gap back.
26.5 inch from ground to finder in the middle of tire front
26.875 inch the rear
5.625 inch from ground to center of stock side skirt.
I have to be modifyhow quick I drive up and down ramps or parking lots so as not to scrap
Unfortunately I forgot to do measurements before my friend installed these. Whoops.

Yea definitely.. seems like the only the German manufacturers get the wheel gap + drop correctly for stock options.
The TLX on a drop looks much better, now you either need to update the wheels to be wider or get spacers :S

I emailed them awhile back but did not get a response. I didn't want to do springs alone so ended up going with RSR Sports i coilovers.
Just a heads up though since the TLX has macpherson struts front suspension, you may need to cut up your stock struts for Koni shocks.

Here's what we had to do 02 RSX-S KONI SHOCKS INSTALL - JDMCITY.COM
Hopefully it'll be different with the TLX cause the above method is ghetto imo.

These springs look great. Can you take some more pictures once they have settled?
Also how'd the alignment specs turn out?
Also curious to hear more feedback on the highway ride quality. I've had bouncy springs before and I never want to have them again as driving on the highway was miserable. I'm ok with them being firmer on larger bumps (which is kind of unavoidable) but bounce is something I cannot live with.

And they have settled all the way. Check my threads posting my new wheels being installed.
