2007 Base TL getting new shoes need halp!

Hey all i am new around these parts, and I am going to order Some MRR GT1 20' 8.5 f/10r rims. My question is how far should I drop it? 1.2 in front and 1.5 in back? I don't want my tires leaning at all, I don't mind rolling the back fender either. I just want a straight looking tire that doesn't rub. Sorry if this seems Noob but I think the look is solid. And also i have read on here that coil overs are the way to go, but wanted more confirmation. Lastly do you think 10 in back is too much??? Thanks again you guys rock!

On wheelfire it is saying hpo/med.... I am going to call them tomorrow to see their available offsets. Any information would be great! 245/30/20 f-255/30/20 r tire size and probably a 40mm offset after doing a bit more reading, what do you think???

Ok they said i can get the with a +40/+45 offset but it looks like i will have to roll the fenders as well. I already found a place that can roll them, but how far should i drop it? how far is the car pictured above dropped?

OP any reason why you are going with 20's and staggered fitment? I was looking on wheelfire and they make this rim in 19's. I would personally go with the 19's and keep the rim width the same, that way you can rotate your tires when needed. While the car pictured above does look decent with the 20's, fitment will look much better with the 19's, especailly when it comes to lowering the car.
I would say just by eyeballing it, that it is lowered about 1.5-2 inches. The driveway pic of the car it looks like it is lowered more than the pic on the grass, though the car could be sitting at a weird angle in the grass picture causing the driver side to look higher. Also if you stay with a staggered fitment and go with a 10" wide rim and a 255 tire in the back, since you want the wheels to look straight and don't want them to tilt inward (negative camber) you won't be able to go much lower than the car above without having rubbing issues even if the fenders are rolled.

And yes, coilovers are the way to go for the best ride height adjustability and damping control. I have ISC N1's and they are really nice, I highly recommend them.

You bring a good point to the table, I'd rather 20's b/c of the look, also my wife is going to drive this (every now and then) so i didnt want to lower it too much. Until you said something i did not notice the different ride heights... Thanks! But i would be comfortable at the height displayed in the bottom photo (lets assume its 1.5). My two main issue here are that the wheel is straight (which if by fitment you mean it wont have negative camber then i would agree to 19's) and no rubbing which bring me to the problem of a fender roll. If i have to roll the fenders for 19's or 20's ill go 20 just because it has an extra touch of my personality..........But i am worried about my paint cracking after i roll the fenders... What is the likelyhood of this happening? I have the Diamond Pearl paint, so i am afraid of everything hahah. Its 4k to repaint my car so id like to not have to.

Ok, if you're going to go with 20's just be aware that it's more added weight and less side wall for the tire, so ride quality will most likely suffer some. Most 3G TL's on 20's if not lowered enough, it looks like the car is still at 4x4 height. I know it's only an inch difference, but that inch can be the difference from the car looking proper to the car looking terrible. Whether you use 19's or 20's the further you lower it the more negative camber will be added. Our cars do not have camber adjustment unless you buy a camber kit. At that point depending on which kit you buy you can have the camber set at 0 (tire is straight) to -3 degrees (top of the tire tilted inward under the fender). Any rubbing issue, fenders rolled or not, will depend on how aggressive an offset you run and how wide a tire you put on. I would recommend rolling them and get it out of the way. That way you won't really have to worry about rubbing unless you go with a super aggressive setup. As far as paint cracking, unless you are super patient while rolling the fender and heating it up, it most likely will crack a little. If you found a shop that does it, I would just take it there and leave it to the pros. I had to roll mine myself, if I knew a shop that did it, I personally would have just paid them to do it. As far as Koni coilovers I don't really know much about them or have any experience with them. A lot of people here use Tein Street Advance coilovers and like them a lot. Like I said before I have the ISC N1's with the street comfort spring rates and love the ride quality.

Would you consider 40 offest back and front to be aggressive? and would going lower on the tire like maybe 225? or do you think that would be too skinny and look bad? I like meat on the back, just like my women, so the 245 255 sounded ideal.

Our cars stock have a +45 offset on an 8" rim I believe, so +40 isn't even close to being aggressive on an 8.5" rim. If you like meatier tires and are staying with the +40 offset up front, then there is no need to run a 225. You can stick with a 245 tire, but would recommend going with a 235 more.

For the rear: A 10" rim is pretty wide so the +40 offset is probably the lowest you would want to go so the rim doesn't sit too far out and you can run a wider tire. A 255 tire is probably ideal if you don't want a lot of stretch to it, but on a 10" wide rim you could even run a 265. The 255's on the pics above look pretty nice though, so if you're going for a look similar to his, I would just stick with that size.

The tire size is going to be important though, because with the 20" rim the car is already going to sit higher than normal. Since most 20" rims look awkward on the 3G your drop is going to be crucial. So if you go with too wide a tire all around and you try to lower the car enough to not have a lot of fender gap, then you can't really run wide tires.

I suggest going with 235 front, 255 rear.

Then it is settled i will take your advice. I am headed out today to get my fenders rolled so cross your fingers for me. The coilovers will be in this weekend(they have a 3' range so i'm sure i can find something comfortable for the wheels), and ill probably purchase the wheels the weekend after. I really appreciate the help, and will definitely update with pics!
