Window trim peeling and fading

I have been searching quite a bit to find info on how to fix or replace the trim piece that runs along the bottom portion of the windows. Mine are now faded and peeling up. The pieces appear to be wrapped in vinyl. Does anyone have experience with refinishing or replacing these?

This is what all Honda's do if left out in the sun too much. Peeling the coating off usually does not work well for these. The front ones cost $47 each and the rear ones cost $81 each.

Hmm! I wonder how they come off. Service manual anyone? Also, someone keyed a Swastika into the surface of my trunk a few days ago... AWESOME!

Did the culprit bare any resemblance to Charlie Chaplin?

Trying to revive this thread. Does anyone have service manual scans with instructions on removing these trim pieces?

I tried to peal it but it wouldnt exactly peal like I hoped. I wouldn't recommend trying it. Thinking of plasti-dipping it or trying to vinyl it.

I removed mine before.... Not too hard but I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner. Take off door panel, peed back white cover, and start removing the rubber pieces on each side to access a screw I back. Then it'll slide out from the side

I had the same issue so I tried the plastidip with the glossifier method. Unfortunately, I did not like the look so I stripped the plastidip and will need to order the vinyl to redo the 4 pieces of trim.
Also, not sure if it was the same with others but I am having a difficult time in sliding the front two trims back in. I did not remove the door panels to get to the screws to remove the trim. I will try this to see if it works better. The two in the rear doors slide back fine.

Sounds like a DIY is in order. Anyone want to tackle it? I might try it out late next month.

I put the outer glass door weatherstrip back on after the re-vinyl. I will post up pics and what I did soon. For those that want to try, be careful because you can really mess up the plastic molding underneath the trim if you are not patient.

mrsimeon, after you remove the screw, you can just take a small flat head screw driver and wedge it between the plastic end piece and the vinyled trim and give it a few gentle taps. The plastic end piece should come out and you should be able to slide the trim out with some elbow grease. You will need to slide the trim out while the door is closed.

I just picked up a wagon and that same piece looks completely discolored from the rest of the trim. What's strange is that both sides look identical, so I wasn't sure if it was intentional.

Did they agree to replace it?
