Question Window refuses to go up!

I have an '06 TL A-Spec. I have recently moved from Orlando to NYC and have been noticing that my window doesn't like to cooperate anymore (maybe it wants to stay open bc NYC is so nice to look at, but who knows? lol) - every time I try to raise it with one-touch auto, it comes up about 3/4 of the way, stops abruptly, and comes right back down. I think it might be a problem with the motor, but what is so confusing is that this doesnt always happen. Sometimes it goes up like it should, and other times it decides otherwise. The cold weather wouldnt have any adverse effect on the window mechanism would it?

The window is hitting enough resistance from dirt, misalignment, ice, etc that it thinks something is caught in the window and reversing itself. That's just exactly what it's supposed to do. My guess is a good cleaning and alignment will take care of it.

Thats what the dealer originally thought when I brought my car in - and it made sense and I felt stupid for not figuring it out. Turns out the thing was actually defective and it was some internal problem with the motor or regulator or whatever they use.

My friend is a window tinting specialist in Orlando (i met him AFTER having my windows worked on) and he said it might be from a crappy tint job. If they just did a half-ass job and shoved the tint into the door, then it may be crumpled and slowing the motor. IDK just a thought. But since we're talking about tint... can someone go to my cardomain page and look @ page 4 and 8 and tell me if anyone has that "J" or "L" shaped part in the rear door glass that's not tinted? I dunno how to post pics here yet. But anyway... that drives me NUTS n makes the tint look cheap. It's "20%" all around. I put that in quotes bc i swear as many times as i look @ the side profile of my car the front windows always look a ittle lighter (that bugs me). I originally wanted 5% but the cops in FL are pretty much
:theghey: , to say the least

^ - yeah some tint places don't get the very back quarter window because they don't want to push the tint under the rubber.

I would say that you need to be careful when you take the car the Acura. Most likely they are going to blame the tinting and charge you to correct it. I know that the people that tinted the windows for you are a 1000 miles away, but they are the people that should look at it first. Good luck.

Mine did the exact same thing. It's an alingnment issue and regardless of tint the dealership should fix it. They fixed mine and no problems since. It's fairly quick too. Took the tech less than an hour to fix it. If they blame the tint, go somewhere else.

OK...Delaler repair order shows this....

L/F WINDOW STOPS HALFWAY UP
CLEAN RUN CHANNEL AND ADJUST WINDOW OP#826099 D.F 03001
S.C 01201

TOTAL LABOR & PARTS 0.00 WARRANTY

I would guess that the OP# is exactly what was involved in adjusting the window. If someone can check to see what that is, you should have your answer.

if you are in FL, go to courtsey acura located at 1001 Rinehart rd. Stanford florida. Talk to RJ or rodney cortes as both are very friendly and are members of this site.

in the TSB, the steps are :
- clean and lubricate run-channel rubber

if trouble still present :
- replace run-channel rubber + lubricate

if trouble still present :
- replace window regulator.

most of the time, replacing the run-channel rubber + lubricate does the job.

My car came from Courtesy Acura! Didnt buy from them though... I bought from Fountain Acura (Im VERY picky and they didnt have what I wanted on their lot so my salesperson did an inventory check, called Courtesy, and they drove it over)... Fountain Acura is closer to me (on OBT) and theyre really cool, but often busy, so if theyre too busy, Ill try courtesy thanks!

If it makes ya feel better I have the same problem with my driver window sometimes. For no reason it seems to happen. It won't go up with the 1-touch feature and I have to hold the button for it to go all the way up. Oh, well ...

Make an appt. with courtsey or fountain (wheever you can get the most time desired on) and what suits you. If you go with courtsey, specifically ask for RJ Lores in the service dept.

This just happened to my car this morning, I own a '04 TL, the left front window will partially go up half way and come back down. I have to keep pressing the power window button for it to go up. I will schedule a visit with my dealer tomorrow. Thanks for the TSB information.

What did they replace? The window regulator? Tell them to reinitialize the window motor this should fix the problem, if they replaced the regulator the window will have to be reinitialized and then it should work like normal!
