Where is the knock sensor on 2005 TL?
Where is the knock sensor on 2005 TL?
I've been noticing intermittent engine knock when accelerating quickly and also intermittent performance issues in my 2005 TL. The engine knock is typically quite loud and immediately afterward the car loses power momentarily. Additionally, there are times when my car accelerates very sluggishly/shakily and then seems to correct and takes off quite rapidly. There are no computer codes/dash lights displayed. After reading several threads I think I've narrowed the issue to the knock sensor. Can anyone verify/confirm? If it is the knock sensor where is it and can it be replaced easily? Thanks in advance for the helpful posts and replies.
Not saying this is your problem as there evidently is no CEL, but to access the sensor, remove the intake manifold, fuel rails and the intake runner base.
I guess the standard question is, are you using a good quality premiun gas?

Just to be sure, go to any auto parts store and have them run a code scan (it's free).
Without knowing more, it's really hard to say what it might be, especially without any codes/MIL. Both knock sensor and app sensor failures usually throw a code.
Get it scanned and then report back.
