TPMS error reset ?

TPMS error reset ?
I got the TPMS error a week ago and noticed that one of the pressure readings in the display said 58. I took my 2006 TL to the local tire shop where they replaced on of the sensors. After driving it for a few miles it was all ok...for about 30 minutes as the TPMS system error light came back on.
I took it back to the tire shop and they told me that all of the sensors are working and that they can read the pressures on their end. They suggested taking it to the dealer since this is a "secondary system failure".
Is there a way to reset the error and or diagnose this further myself ? I hate taking it to the dealer for them to charge me some bs fee !
thanks

I misread your post. It seems your TPMS was not all ok for the first 30 mins. It takes about that long for the system to finally say something is up. The sensor they replaced it with, do you have any info on it? And do you see which wheel is not displaying info in the MID? Luckily, you have a 2006 which should try to re read all wheels on each start cycle which will help you pinpoint which sensor is giving you trouble.

Still error, now not showing pressure at all
So for a while the system ended up being ok and showing the correct pressure for 3 wheels with the rear right showing 58. After driving about 30 min it would ding again and the system error came back on.
Now the system error stays on permanently !
Any ideas ?
thanks

Keep driving it for a while.
I recently replaced all 4 sensors and three sync'd up within 10 miles. While the one showed 58. Then the error came on. Then after 200 miles it just sync'd up one day and the error went away.
Our cars are self syncing as long as you have the correct sensors I'd just give it some time before doing anything else.

I have the same problem where the right rear would sometimes show 58 PSI. Now I have a total system failure where all 4 tires just have a "--" dash next to them. I suspect it to be the onboard receiver since it was giving bad readings now all 4 pressures went away.
Over the last month, it must have worked for a few minutes because I was driving and the TPMS failure flashed on again for all 4 tires.

I also have the TPMS light on, most likely due to dead sensors. I've read it costs $500+ to have all 4 re-installed, so I'm planning to wait until I get new tires put on - if ever, to be honest.
Is anyone aware of a TPMS "bypass" for the 3G TL? I assume that people must switch rims and have this issue unless they have new sensors put in - is that what most people do when changing wheels?

hmm that reminds me of a trick someone did where the put the TPMS sensors in a foot long piece of 4” PVC, glued caps on one end and a screw on cap on the other. Add a Schrader valve on the pipe, pump it up to size, and Bob’s your uncle!

I saw that! In a Ford Explorer. Should work if the sensors are wireless which they must be. Only issue is these solutions still require buying 4 new sensors, which could be manageable if i mounting wheels isn’t required to get them paired

Never tried and never did any research, but don't Acuras have 4 separate receivers for TPMS system somewhere in the fender well? They must be low range so car can figure out which wheel is which without any user intervention. Many Hondas and Acuras don't even need pairing a new sensor - they will figure it out by itself after some time.
Ford usually requires reset procedure (and activating each sensor in sequence either with a tool or deflating / inflating the tires), so Ford might be using one higher power receiver, thus trick with spare wheel / tube will work.

Bring back to life, is there a way to by pass the system. I see. To have a failed one and can’t be bothered to buy 4 more plus the faulty one(s) as I am buying winter wheels and tires. Rather just not buy them but don’t want to stare at a tmps all day?

TPMS has become a necessity for me. So many times I find a loose valve core or nail before i accidently damage any tires or figure out issues before the minus 40 rolls around. Especially around tire change season. Well worth the money for a reliable system.
