Starter feeling weak

Started feeling like a struggle for the very first rotation when the starter is engaged. Is this the writing on the wall for a starter failure? If so how much time is typical from the onset of symptoms, planning a 600 mile round trip this weekend and if I can be prepared by bringing tools for a starter r&r then I will. But if this actually regular in warmer weather (first 80 degree day today) then I'd rather save my trunk space

Start paying more attention to it and decide what's best for you... I'd bring tools... I always keep tools in my car anyways... But like I said, see how it sounds first. Also, watch a few YT videos to see if yours sounds right! Make sure they're the same MY's as your car, however...

Check the condition of your battery and the battery cables first. The + cable might be corroded internally where you can't see and unable to properly conduct enough juice.
