Reverse light issue

I just purchased my 05 TL on the 5th, I noticed my back up lights are not working when on reverse. I thought I had bad bulbs but when I opened the trunk all the way up, they turned on .... as I lowered the trunk they turned off again . I took part of the liner off to see if I can see any bad connections but didn't spot any . Anyone else had this issue before?

I had the same issue in my old Neon and it turned out to be the back-up switch in the shifter was bad. I thought it was strange that both back up lights were out at the same time.

Ok, first real attempt to find the issue : Failed . Lol well I took apart the trunk liner n inspected the bulbs n connections, they looked ok. So then I tried to check the shifter but I couldn't get it off lol but I did notice after removing the silver trim that the previous owner had spilled what appeared to be soda all over that area which I'm thinking is the reason why the switch might be bad.

UPDATE !!!! According to the tech, its a small wire that's located on the left side of the trunk. It wears out over time after repeated opening and closing of the trunk. It's behind the plastic pillar that covers the support of the trunk . It wasn't making contact so he just put them back together n fixed the issue. Problem fixed, I can see when I'm backing up now since I got super dark tint lol YAY

Good job.

Pics of where in this wire is might be nice if you get a chance.

make sense since moving the trunk causes it to go away. I dont see how it would be a shifter switch issue.

Probably you won't remember but do you know which cable is? I attached some pictures because I don't find the cable you meant.

The OP posted this issue he had in the 3G TL forum, as well as the fix that corrected the problem within his 2011 post #7 above.
I doubt that it would pertain to the pictured hatch, above, on your 2012 RDX since it is a completely different model.
