How do the inside(tripod) mounts detach from the car? Ive taken the hub nuts off before, thats no big deal, but never the whole driveshaft. Anyone have an illustrated DIY ??

 

Left side-pry the inboard joint from the trans
Right side-drive the inboard joint off the intermediate shaft

If memory serves me correctly, snap ring on left D/S where splines enter trans, the snap ring on the right side is on the intermediate shaft and the D/S slides over the snap ring. There are other snap rings at the joints, but I don't assume you're asking about them.

Google is you friend as you can call up illustrations and take a look.

 

Does the tranny fluid need to be changed if the passenger side driveshaft does, or is that only if you replace the intermediate shaft?

 

On the right side, the intermediate shaft that enters the trans is not removed, so no problems with trans fluid.
