Is this a problem?
I've been hearing while engaging into Drive lately. I loud SLAP from the engine . It doesn't happen all the time, mostly in one spot. I drive backward down my friends driveway and then come to a SLOW rolling stop(2 MPH max) then I shift into Drive and I hear this SLAP! Is it possible my transmission is going? OR is this another regular thing about the TL's noises. Just curious.
I own an 05 TL Auto. 83K on body of car. 62K on Engine only.

Yes you need to wetsand your headlights, and that noise is not a problem, but try stopping all the way, and shift and see if you can still hear the sound. But my 08 TL has the same sound anyway.

Can you tell me a little more about the Wetsand? And thanks for telling me not to worry about that problem. It's just always been like that.

There are two ways to go about fixing the lights:
1. If it is severe, wetsanding will be needed. Start with 800 grit sandpaper and sand back and forth, never in circles. Then go with 1000 grit and go up and down. Then with 1500 and go back and forth. Then 2000 and go up and down. Then go with 3000 and go back and forth. Polish out lights with some Light Cut compound.
2. Minimal hazing - Use some Optimum Compound on an orange pad at speed 5-6 and polish out the lights. then follow up with Optimum Polish at speed 5-6 and finish it off.
The hazing will come back sooner or later, 2 months or 2 weeks. Your best bet is to fix them completely and have some clear-bra put on top of them.

the 'SLAP' sounds like it could be a mount.. what happened to your original engine?
