Weak/Dying Battery?

First happened yesterday morning when I turned on the car (night before was fine). The car was struggling to turn over when I put the key in and turned the ignition. Later in the evening when I drove again, it didn't struggle as much but you could tell it was there. Then this morning again it struggled to turn over, but in all cases, it did turn over and all electronics are working fine. Weak battery, maybe corroded cables? It has been fking hot as hell here ... like 100's past few weeks. I was thinking of going to autozone cus I think they do free battery testing if I remember correctly.

Oh yea I got my state inspection about 2 weeks ago, I woulda thought they woulda checked the battery life/voltage/ohm/amp/whateveryoucallit was fine.

I would look at Costco for batterys. A regular battery(no optimas) is $40-50 and will last forever.

I went to autozone to get it tested but the guy said the positive connection was so corroded taht he coudlnt get a reading . So I went home and cleaned it all off nicely and my rommate has one of those testers and with car turned off it was something like 11.6 and with the car turned on it was somethign like 13.8. This morning when I left for work it still was struggling a tad to turn over. Think I need a new battery? Any recommendations on which battery is best? Nothing special needed, just skorching summers, cold winters.

How old is your battery? It does sound like a weak battery and needs replacing. I have an Optima Yellow top but Braille is good too. Yea, heat kills batteries.

I don't know how long it has been in the car, but I got the car about 1.5 yrs ago and haven't replaced it since. Yea I've researched those Optimas but don't wanna spend the $$ :/ would rather spend half that for a good/decent battery. Was thinking of going to autozone at lunch to doublecheck them testing it and buying a duralast battery, IF they can install it there. If not, I will probably go to sears and get a diehard battery and install myself.

Sounds like a plan. Either way you'll have a new battery.
