Possible solution for 6MT owners with hanging shift boots and aftermarket knobs
I am currently in the process of completing my 6MT mods... (corsport cable bushings, corsport shifter bushings, COMPTECH short shifter, and SKUNK2 440G shift knob. If you are reading this, you probably suffer from a hanging shift boot or you have solved the issue with duck tape or a zip tie. Well, I had another idea and I acted on it right away.
I previously owned a 2002 Honda Civic EX 5MT coupe. I did the exact same mods listed above. On 7thgencivic.com awhile back, there were a few people suffering from the same problem. There was a solution. An OEM ACURA part for the RSX was a direct fit for our car. The part number was P/N 08999-BAK-100. This is a discontinued part. It was for the 02-06 RSX. The part is not listed as working with any other vehicle in the Honda/ACURA family, yet the DC5 part fit the EM2.
At this point, I have installed my cable bushings and am doing the rest on Saturday. I was wondering how the SKUNK2 knob was going to look in my car so I went out and played around. Of course my shift boot, hangs down and doesn't work with it. Right away I remembered the part from my old car and went on a hunt. I had a dealer run a nationwide search, checking their vintage warehouses (so I was told). Turns out, there are 2 dealers that have it. In Vermont there was 3 in stock and in New York they had 2. *MOD EDIT*
I have no idea if it will work with our setup, but if it does we will be able to have another solution for a VERY clean OEM look install. The part is on the way, so I will let you know what happens.

IT WORKS!!! I just received the RSX adapter in the mail and put it on...and it works! When I get home from work I will take pictures and post them on here. If you are interested in having an absolute OEM look with your aftermarket shift knob, the fix is here!

Looks good. In your first post, you said it might be a discontinued part. If it is and I can't get this through an Acura or Honda stealership, where did you source it? So it's just a finishing cap for the collar of the boot, it's not fastened to the shift knob, right?

google the part numbers. its comes up in different places. i think i found one shipped for like 15 bucks if i remember correctly. Shipping was more than the part.

Hate to bump such an old post up but installed a skunk 2 shift knob and would love to get a hold of part no 08999-BAK-100.
I checked with my dealership he did a check in all the dealerships in the area and non of them have it.
Can anyone source this part out now?

As the pics on this thread are no longer visible. I was wondering if the OP or someone can upload pics or verify how to install this boot adapter.
I have found the part, even though it is majorly discontinued.
Before purchasing, I want to ensure that it will fit my 07-types 6mt with a skunk2 billet shift knob.
anyone?
