hey guys,

lately its been mad cold in Jersey, and every morning that i start up the car to warm up, i hear this loud noise coming for the front of the engine. it is ridiculously loud!! and then it stops when the car is warmed up...its an 04 TL..

Does anyone else have this with their TL?

na no tapping sound..its more like something is having a tough time spinning when its cold, and the min it warms up the sounds goes away..when its making that noise tho, i have noticed when i turn the steering wheel the noise gets louder..but it only does it when its cold..

 

I'd say power steering whine or drive belt tensioner is bad. Have you ever had the power steering o ring recall done?

 

^+1 Had the same thing. Mechanic said i needed new power steering system and it would be around 800 bucks. went to this website and got the o-ring for like two bucks.

it does it on mine too (03 TL-S)
does it idle at high RPM's wen u start it up?

 

I have the same issue. A simple search would have given you the answer. I plan on fixing it next week

If it's the power steering O ring it's a easy fix. The noise will show up more when it gets below 50 degrees.
