Knocking Noise - Engine Swap?
Knocking Noise - Engine Swap?
Hi All,
Trying to figure out what to do with my 08 TL with 191K miles on it. It makes a knocking noise when park and neutral. Noise is quiet when the engine is cold and gets louder as it warms up. The noise increases with rpm till about 3000 then it seems to go away. When in drive or reverse the noise completely goes away. See attached video:
.
I took it into my local Acura dealership and they diagnosed it as a noise coming from the piston pin/connecting. I took it another local mechanic said the noise was internally from the engine.
The timing belt and water pump will be coming due soon and I"m thinking of doing an engine swap at that time but looking for guidance.
My questions are:
I appreciate the advice!

My questions are:
- Is this a common enough problem that if I get another engine I'd run into the same issue again?
- Any idea about labor costs for engine swaps?
- Any other guidance about engine swaps?
I appreciate the advice!
