Just purchased my 05 TL...Problems already

As of this minute I have had my 05 TL/navi for 24 hrs. Purchased brand new with 2 miles. First thing this morning I was adjusting the seat and the control that adjust the seat back stopped working. Still not working. Navigation worked fine on way to work. On way home the screen went totally black. I can access my radio controls from the screen and thats it. When I got home I turned the car off and waited a few minutes. Turned the key back over and the Navigation System splash screen comes up and when it goes to load the lawyer screen the screen just goes black. I can select the Audio button below the screen and the audio controls work fine. I ejected the DVD and reinserted. Still nothing. Anyone else experience this?

I hope this isnt the beginning of a nightmare.

That sounds bad. Bring it in ASAP and start your whining. Sounds like a mass electrical failure.

Sorry but I have to ask....Are you clicking the ok button. If you don't, the screen will go black into screen saver mode.

The lawyer screen never comes up to click ok. The navigation system screen comes up for about 10 seconds and then the whole screen goes completely black. I can press the audio button below the screen and the screen will display audio functions and seems to be fine. I cant access anything but audio through the screen. I can give navigation commands and the system doesnt even respond. The audio/climate commands work fine. Its like the navigation software isnt loading.

Guys correct me if I am wrong, but you might want to disconnect the battery for about 10mins to reset the computer. Wonder if that might help??

I wouldnt do shit to fix it, take it in and make them fix it. This is a brand new car and you shouldnt have to do anything to "make it work."

Sorry you're having problems, Im at 1k miles and it's flawless. TAKE IT IN AND MAKE THEM FIX IT ALL, OR EXCHANGE.

You shouldn't be having any problems at this point and while it makes sense to bring it back to the dealer sometimes you can't do that right away. You may want to try and eject the CD-ROM in the Nav unit in the trunk and then put it back in so it can reload. Just a though.

.

Should not be necessary to mkae them fix it. Just take it in and give them the oportunity to make it right. We have a great 4 year warranty, it should be required reading.

Yah, It could simply be a loose connection. His problems are electrical, so its fair to assume part of the system is shot. But the engine, and drive system are all good. Well, at least these 24 hours.

I ejected the DVD, still nothing from the navigation. I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. Once I started the car the navi screen flashed a downloading software progress bar. Once I put my navi code in the screen went black again. Of course I cant input the code for the radio so now its not working..LOL

I am calling this morning and giving the dealership a chance to fix it. I will let everyone know what the "fix" is.

Boy, this kind of thing will take the gloss off of the "new car feeling" and disillusion you in a hurry.

Terribly sorry to hear of your new car experience. Hope it's something really simple and your dealer can correct it in short order.

Just back from shop. The navigation module was bad and was replaced with another from a new TL on the lot. As far as the seat back problem it started working again. Of course I couldnt recreate the problem at the dealership. Overall I was very satisfied with the service I received. I waited less than 2 hours. The service technician was very helpful and the service manager delivered my car back to me. I only hope I dont get to know these people on a first name basis.

Although I have had problems already I still LOVE my TL. I am keeping a positive outlook and hopeully for a while my other posts wont be in Problems and Fixes. I appreciate everyones replys and help.

just so you know you can bring back ANY car 3 days and up to 300 miles i think.

Check your paperwork small print. I would just bring it back and get a new one.
