Intermittent hard miss at idle, recent VSA light

For several months, I have had an intermittent hard miss at idle
in my 2006 TL- worse when in gear, (drive or reverse) completely gone when some throttle given. Zero codes on OBD scanner, can fish up what came up with a Solus, but none appeared remotely related. Recently, the car ran rough when accelerating on one trip, and the VSA light came on- and haven’t had that type of issue lately but VSA stayed on.
Timing belt was done 20k miles ago, valve adjustment about 10k ago- but no problems at all until about 3-4K miles ago.
Engine mounts were done w/timing belt- and otherwise it runs fantastic.
I get 29mpg on long trips at 80mph, but the miss at idle- mostly in gear and at a stop- is driving me nuts.
I did replace the steering rack just before this happened, but drove it for a good 2 mo the with no issue. I’m checked all elec. connections, don’t see any falling off.
It is a hard miss-meaning almost like the engine is trying to cut off. I don’t believe it is coil related, as I never have a misfire code. I will try some new ones if needed, but the lack of a code, intermittent nature, and lack of oil down in the spark plug hole makes me believe that isn’t the case. Spark plugs were all new as of about 10k ago and I used NGK.
Many ideas are appreciated and I have no idea if the VSA is related.
-Bobby

check your battery connections and all your coils and plugs. A bad coil or plug could cause issues such as yours, or having interment power loss. It could be as simple as your neg. battery cable is loose!

Checked all the grounds - all were solid and connected. Will try swapping coils next, but still think it is something else as I've dealt with before and this doesn't present the same.

Bob H - Wondering if and how you resolved this? I have the same issue, can't seem to figure it out, and I'm reluctant to throw parts at it. Thanks.

Lots of troubleshooting - ended up finding one bad Coil. Went ahead and replaced all 6. No issue since then.

i'd advise eserickson to troubleshoot instead of just throwing parts at it, as his issue could be something totally different than Bob H's....

Very cool that Bob H is still around and answered back! Normally, people dont tend to answer after 2 years!

I will elaborate on my particular issue - it had a number of us stumped and I just didn't want to go replacing parts. Took hooking it up to a high end scan tool - and sitting waiting for it to happen, looking at one coil at a time - finally found the random drop that happened about every 1-2 min. Very frustrating as it did not present like a consistent coil issue. But agree w/ justnspace that you will want to provide some more info to help us, or pay some bucks to hook up to a good snapon or acura scan tool.
