Front Seat-Back assembly

the back of the seat on my 08 tl-s has come loose at the bottom it just sort of flaps around. I havent found a way to secure it, does anyone know what parts i'll need to get it done? I think it may be part 38 but i'm not sure.

I removed the seat back compeltely by sliding it up and off the seat. nothing on it appears to be broken

Thanks!

There is a TSB. If under warranty the dealer will do it for free.

Below is a link to the TSB page. You must follow the instructions at the top of Post #1 to access TSB's. Look for TSB# 08-008.

Easy fix for this... get a couple of large plastic cable ties (12"+, any hardware store will have them) and loop through holes in the seat frame & the metal rod in the seat back section. Pull it tight to lock in place and cut off the excess. If you ever need to access the seat just clip the ties from the bottom and repeat to secure again. Hope this helps.

hey all,

i am having this same problem with my 2007 tls, i have the zip ties, but i cannot seem to find the spot that you guys are wrapping the zip tie around on the seat back. can someone post a photo or give me a description of what im looking for on the seat back. i would take the entire cover off, but i am afraid it will not stay on tight like the bottom part, so i have been looking at it from a side angle which is why i am probably not able to see it

Look for the metal pieces on each side (inside the seatback panel, bottom). Could be part of the spring for the magazine holder or hindge, don't remember exactly. Anyway, you can loop around that metal part and nothing will show on the outside once you cut off the excess. On the seat itself there were holes close by in the frame to loop through.

Oh, and I'd remove the panel so you can easily see it first. If your bottom clips are already broken you can just slide the panel up then off. It won't make it any looser later. Once you have the ties on it will be good and tight again.

thanks for the response ... i just went ahead and did that and it did definitely help to remove it so i could see what was going on, i feel like its a 9 out of 10 fix though, it still a little shaky, but it looks better at first glance, is that how u guys felt about it?

Mine was as tight as when the clips were in place, like new. Maybe you didn't pull the ties in as much as you could? If you're using long enough ties (12"+) you should be able to pull them from the bottom of the seat pretty tight.
