Fan not blowing air when cold...

Hey guys, these last couple of days my fan wont blow air (cold or hot) after sitting overnight in an unheated garage.

after about 5-10min of driving, it would start up normally...
im assuming the fan or something is frozen. Am I wrong? Could it be something else that i need to check out?

Even after letting the car warm up (5-10min in idle) the fan wont blow air... its a problem because of the condensation forming on the windshield while driving...

anyone else have this problem? its a good -10 deg cel in the garage..

Have you tried using the defroster and 28 degrees to clear out the condensation?

Do you have the system set on Auto, if you do it is normal for the fan not to come on until the coolant has warmed a bit. Have you tried the fan manually?

front defroster doesnt blow air, and its not an issue of temperature, there is no air being blown :/

For manual control, first turn off the climate control.

Then push the arrow button for the interior fans below the "Auto" button to start the fans.
Use the temp arrow above the "Auto" button to raise the temp.

If you leave the system on "Auto," the system won't turn on until the engine coolant has warmed.

Sounds like you might have an electrical malfunction then, the Auto climate control is no turning off. If you push the windshield defrost button will the fan come on. That button is next to the rear window/mirror defrost button.

everything is working in terms of controlling the climate control. The only problem is the fan is not activating/not blowing out air.
This only happens the first 10min while the car is running. I do not think its electrical but rather some hardware is frozen or something

ok so after driving for some time with the fan blower turning on at random times during the drive. I realized whenever i hit a hard bump or whenever i actually bang the underside of the glove compartment the fan turns on!

Im assuming its loose wiring, anyone have any ideas wat this could be from specifically??

Good chance it is the blower transistor thingy (my lovely technical term) that is failing. Mine did this a few years ago as well. Sometimes everything worked....sometimes the blower would start after 10-15 minutes of driving.

^^^ Yup, I'd say transistor as well. Easy DIY. If you have the dealership do it, they are ripping you off if they charge you more than 0.5 hours for labor.

Did you check the blower motor by the glove compartment to see it work.

I have the exact same problem and hope this thread help me out to.
I looked at the transistor mine seems good, the connector still in good shape no rust... Is there any other way to check it?

And is there any DIY for changing the blower motor? I can't find

Thank you
