Experiencing a 'jerk' when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd

Sometimes, not every time, I experience a jerk when my 07 AT goes from 3rd to 2nd. Happens more so when it is cold outside. Is this common and is it something I should worry about?

07 TL with 40k on it.

swap out your pressure switches. you have 3 of them total on your 07. do a google search for "replacing pressure switches 07-08 TL acurazine". you'll find a thread that shows you how to do this yourself...fairly easy job.

you'll also want to do a 3x3 ATF drain and fill. do a google search on that as well, using redline ATF.

your car will drive MUCH better after you do these 2 maintenance jobs. night and day difference.

also try driving in sport shift more often than D. that way, you can control the shifting to an extent, plus it's more fun.

Sorry guys, I have no idea. I bought it a few months ago certified used. I will try and take it to the dealer and see if they can replace it for me.

Thanks for all the help!

Just replace the ATF for now, its possible the former owner put pure redline type F in there which behaves in this manner when cold.

Based on the name and avatar....just a shortcut.

You aren't one of those people who insist on being called Jonathan instead of John or Jack, are you?

I think we all need to know some more about when this jerk occurs..............it can be as simple as the grade logic program in the transmission and it is perfectly normal. Have you driven the car enough to detect that change in shifting when your going down a hill? vs flat ground? it can be slight hill, or just an obvious deceleration condition.

On the other hand it could be something more serious in theses fragile transmissions, I just hate jumping to that conclusion.

I get the same thing. Usually occurs on a down slope. The best description is that it feels like it shifts from 3rd to 1st and tosses you forward.

Not to scare you, but mine did it before my tranny failed. Mine has still done it after my rebuild too! Probably b/c the ass clowns at Five Star Transmissions in Amarillo,TX didn't fix it properly. I'll be ordering the 3rd/4th Pressure Switches and Redline ATF soon to see how it feels after that
