Engines moves up and down

With the car started (engine running), I had my wife shift from Park to Drive and then Drive to Park and I saw the front part of the Engine move up and down (like 1-2 inches). Is it supposed to do that under normal behavior?

2005 TL - AT Base 97K miles

No, better check the all the motor mounts, When one goes it puts strain on the remaining, so check them all.

Thanks egonz36 and Turbonut. My Acura service-tech told me that it does move to a certain degree and I have an appointment in for Monday to get that inspected. I will let you guys know how it goes. I still dont think it should move up and down "to a certain degree".

it will shift slightly but pretty sure not 1-2". front/rear mount might be shot.

Sounds to me like one is completely torn. if the dealer says it is normal, ask to see another car that exhibits the same behaivor.

It certainly won't move 1"-2", but put it in drive, hold brake and blip throttle, a lot of movement mount(s) shot. If you look closely you may be able to see the area that has separated.

Check all motor mounts. Look for cracks and separation. You should be able to feel vibration at stops, if it is bad enough.

Front mount is shot guys. After my visit yesterday, dealer saild they replaced it once before about 12K miles prior (85K milestone) and its gone again (97K miles now). For now they are blaming it on a defective part and got me covered under warranty. Vibration reduced now significantly.
