Moved, No Garage

So I moved into the big city now, which means street parking and no garage (no didn't get kicked out, divorced or went homeless). I used to have lots of space to do my maintenance of the car and such, but not anymore.

I don't even have my jack lift anymore with me. Anyone who has street parking have any advice on doing maintenance?

Find a level spot on the street...lol.

Been there, done that.

Or a public parking garage...

I know the by-law officers here can give you a ticket for working on your car on the street if it's not an emergency.

My advice: make friends.

Friends are awesome
They help me with random stuff, they let me borrow things, they help me with school, they're awesome to hang out with, among lots of other things.

and welcome back my friend. missed you lots.

Put a wall around the car or you'll see the results of street parking with the cars that park by the Braille system. They will keep going until they hit the vehicle in front or the one in back, or maybe even both. Bumpers take a beating.

Daughter's fiancee lives in Hoboken and although he has off-street garage parking, he'll need to park on the street occasionally and his Range Rover shows the results with the bumper damage. Even his 2013 GTI has some bumper damage.

Bottom line, most people just don't care about other people's property, let alone their own.

^ Ya, you could yelp some diy garages around you that rent out lifts/tools. Maybe get a bumper bully to protect your bumper on the street.

Make good friends with a local mechanic is my suggestion. DIY with no garage is more a pain than it's worth in my opinion.

Off topic. But nice avatar. I said this to someone I recently saw at starbucks and it blew their mind... but did you know he isnt giving a thumbs up in that pic? He is actually judging if he is safe from the incoming radiation. Back in the day people were taught to use their thumb to cover the mushroom cloud from the nuke. It was said back then that if your thumb covered the entire cloud you were safely out of radiation zone. But uf the cloud was larger than your finger you are in its radiation zone.

Pretty interesting and surprising they never worked that into the game.
