Emergency brake light does not come on

Hey, all:

Just noticed that my emergency parking brake light does not come on in my 05 TL MT. The indicator does light up when I start the car in the dashboard but for some reason doesn't when I use the brake.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

switch probably got disconnected at the brake handle , or the switch might also be bad too

has the center console been off/out at one point?

also OP , with mentioning that it does work when you first turn the car on (the bulb is intact)

Actually, I had to take my car to the Acura dealer a few months ago to replace the bulb for the heated seat switch. I'm thinking they messed something up with the switch when they replaced the bulb.

Since I have to take out the center console to get in there as I'm thinking it is the brake switch, how long do I need to take it apart?

Thanks, all.

on my 2g, which is basically the same same attachment points, with like 4 screws, and pulling off the trim pieces, i can do it in like 5-10 minutes, but i also know where everything is though, so i would say maybe an hour or two, depending on your mechanical ability (and taking your time to make sure to not break anything), but even then the car will still be driveable if you do not get completely done though, so if you have to do something in between it's not life and death

also maybe make your way over to the 3g DIY section to see if they have a DIY on how to do it, that is more specific to your generation of car

and modify for your application (not taking the dash apart as much as in posts)

and considering where the seat heaters are... i can see very well how acura might have screwed up the brake switch

and the one 3g i have pulled the center console on, those silver trim pieces where the biggest headache at removing, and making sure not to break/crack them
