Doors Randomly Unlock by Leaning on the Door!
Doors Randomly Unlock by Leaning on the Door!
Yep. I can reproduce this on demand. Bizarre strange stuff but not really random I guess.
By just leaning strongly on the driver or passenger side doors with my elbow on the thick arm rest part, the doors will unlock and the open door light will show on the MID along with a chime. I guess this is a safety feature in case of panic given that the doors don't automatically unlock when the inside door handle is pulled. My prelude used to unlock the door when I pulled on the interior door handle to exit. Electronic vs. mechanical lock linkage mechanism I guess.
If anyone has an explanation for this 'feature' please let me know.

I fixed this problem by sticking a fairly thick felt tab on the inside door panel. Apparently, the problem is that only half of the door switch is being depressed by the interior door panel. It looks like another design flaw where the interior door panel is too short (towards the rear of the car) to fully depress the door switch. North American built Honda quality is going down... too bad.
