Door sensor problems

When i turn right, if i put a little weight on my door, the door open light in dash comes on, dome lights turn on and car unlocks. Has anyone experienced this problem? Also from time to time, my tl shows "fuel cap open" message, is it just a matter of replacing these sensors.

Off topic: I searched for these errors, instead i am presented with threads of lambo aventador and mdx, completely off. Still haven't figured out how search works on this site

I would make sure the door jamb switch is in place correctly, which is a little black knob looking thing on the body side of the vehicle's B Pillar. Maybe someone can upload a pic. Second, there should be a rubber stopper on the interior trim panel of the door that directly touches the jamb switch when you close the door.Make sure it's not loose or even missing.

As for the fuel cap message,Sometimes it's as simple as tightening the fuel cap or replacing it. The little o ring seal wears out over time.

When i bought my TL it did the same thing. I talked them way down on the price because of an "electrical issue". Went home and tightened the latch in the door jamb. (Fixed!) I am 99.9% sure thats what your issue is. Those switches ether work or dont work.

I did pull my bolts and put lock tight on them so they dont come out again. Oh and you will need a large torx head with an impact driver. Normal screw driver is not enough.

Oof that's true! Good point. Check for any play in the Striker OP.

As for the "Tighten Fuel Cap", this could be due to a faulty EVAP canister purge valve. There is a TSB on this: 09-056. You can find it here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-technical-service-bulletins-tsbs-3g-garage-j-016-a-613659/. There is also a thread on it here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/tighten-fuel-cap-867245/.

How much is the part itself? the EVAP canister purge valve. Unfortunately parts are expensive up here in Canada. So i will get this thing ordered online right away. Has anyone ordered from a specific website before?

Boooom!! the door switch is tight, there is no play but on the door, BUT there is no rubber stopper. Going to stop by acura and ask for that thing, unless you guys have a better "free" solution.

Edit: For comparison, i looked at passenger door and there is no rubber stopper there either and it doesn't act funny

Did you check the latch striker in the door jamb? You shouldn't have to ghetto rig a way to keep the sensor from saying the door is open.

Check the striker next OP. Comptech, it wouldn't be a ghetto rig, I meant the little rubber stopper may have been removed or even missing from the interior trim panel, you know, the one that directly hits the jamb switch.

In TLs there is no rubber stopper that hits the switch, it rests against a part of the door panel. There should be non on ether side.

The part i was thinking of hits directly above the jamb switch. I thought otherwise. My mistake, sorry OP.

Here is the answer to your problem! The exact same thing happened to me. It's a quality control issue.

Still wodering if you checked the stricker. You may not be able to move it with your hand but it is still possible that it slid out. Another way to check is to see if your door is flush with the rear door.

Well, VanGuy suggested a thread and i did the same as one of the poster, stick a thick felt tab where the door switch is being pushed and I no longer have this problem. I checked the striker, and door hinges, also tried lifting the door to check for slight play, no problems found.

Well I am sure the door switch spring is messed up and it is not getting pushed all the way. I checked the door hinges and the lock mechanism, didn't find any "play". Just colored the tabs with a black marker and it is barely noticeable against the car color (which is also black). No point spending on a new switch.
