Tighten fuel cap!

08 TL with 80K

So this started around 65K and the tighten fuel cap sensor kept coming on and off. Acura dealer said it didnt pose a real problem so I left it alone on my road trip. Somewhere in Seattle I got new gas cap as suggested as the cheapest fix....that didnt fix it!

So now its just annoying.... anybody else having this issue alot?? Its like every 60 miles or so!

No idea, how would one check that. Acura link pops up on the nav with check now or check later.

Next time it pops up, where should i find these codes?

if you dont have a obd2 scanner then goto autozone or your local auto parts chain and they will check for free.

I have 68k miles on my 07 TL. I experience this problem off and on as well. I havent had the dealer check it out yet because the light never stays on for long. So by the time I get to the dealer for my service, I usually forget about it.

Having inspection completed at dealer next month, will have it checked out and post an update.

I have a 07 tl with 70,000km and have had the same issue for the past 10,000km. I put a new gas cap and the issue did not go away. It randomly comes on but does not stay on for more then a few hours. I have not noticed a pattern in mileage or how much gas is in the tank. It is very annoying and have no idea how to resolve the issue.

In Reference to Peter i was having this other issue P0171 bank 1 lean. I ask a Acura tech in the bay working i just wanted to walk back there didnt really care because the service manager didnt know what i was talking about and after getting PGM Update it didn't work they change a map flow sensor it didnt work for the P0171. The acura tec told me it can be many signs for that code to come up and once i heard him say purge valve i know it was the problem because if not sealed right it can release gas vapors. Came back with the TSB and show the Service Rep same day fix its been fix at 57,000 miles now i have 61,455 no issues. Guys switch out that purge valve Japan Materials beats any american or Chinese or mexican quality. Take care

ok, I got part 36162-RDV-J01, I located it, but that wire harness doesn't want to come off. Trust me, I can get it off, but I will break it...any suggestions tips for a novice to ease the connector off?

I have the same "Tighten fuel cap"error on my 07 TLS and went to advanceautoparts for a code read. The code returns P0404 which is "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Range". I think it's the EGR and is P0404 code the same on all code reader even on the Acura dealer?

Thanks.

@ Gundam i find that hard to believe, dam that tighten fuel cap is the biggest problem for pretty much at Tl 2007-2008. question have you ever change the Purge valve sensor at all.
Did you try changing your EGR.
@ New Car check the TSB they have the direction on how to install that my friend

I've got the TSB, I just can't get that harness connector off without busting it. Is there a clip holding it I don't see?

Tighten Fuel Cap Warning

It cost me $211 to have the Purge Valvbe replaced to resolve this issue. It was really getting on my nerves. Honda/Acura know this is a problem yes refuses to repair their vehicles. I took the part from the dealership. It a cheap piece of plastic that was made in Mexico and was determined to be faulty. So far the warning has not appeared.
