just cant decide on the black or charcoal color. I have the grey interior and im thinking the charcoal cover might match better then a black one. thoughts?

^Dont think you could go wrong either way, black or charcoal

I may consider one of those covers in the future also.

Someone needs to be brave and try some 3m Dinoc Vinyl. They offer the Vinyl with all sorts of textures and they all look great. There intended purpose is architectural, but im sure alot of you know, Dinoc Carbon Fiber is very popular among car enthusiasts.

They have Dinoc with a leather appearance. Im sure once the dash is removed, it wouldn't be that difficult to wrap with some patience and some spray adhesive.

Here is a link of a website that sells 3m leather vinyl if anyone wants to see what it looks like. the first item seems to be a good match for the 3G Dash

^^^actually not a bad idea...I guess my concern would be that with heat, over time, areas might start peeling or not adhering.

Ive found 2 websites that list prices. Once japanese, and one austrial site. The japanese site had it for 44$ and the austrialian site had it for 54$. This was for a 4' x 3.2' sheet, which is a little short i think to cover the dashes length. The price would be more like around 70-100$ for enough fabric. The trick is finding a US source.

My guess is that part of the issue is the "once the dash is removed" topic. TL's are starting to appear in junkyards to be parted out, so dashes are available, but just opening it up is a battle...

for those that start seeing a crack you need to put a hole at the ends to stop it from spreading. get a decent size needle heat it up and poke the hole at the tip of the crack. if you plan to get a new dash there is no point.

If I am looking correctly, a new dash (the upper part) would be at least $200. But the worst part is removing the old one and installing the new one. I can live with my one crack..

Hey Guys,

Quick Question. Some people resolve to getting a Dash cover for this issue and I had a question on that. For those who have purchased dash covers, Do these covers cover up the Headlight Sensor that it completely stops working or always thinks its night outside so you lights are always on? Also does it intervene with the speakers on the dash? I don't wanna purchase this if its gonna mess with my audio and block my sensor for my headlights.

Thanks In Advance

I have an 04 so can't speak for the headlight thing...don't have that feature (do I?)...for the tweeters, it didn't really BLOCK the sound, but didn't kinda muffle it a little. I ended up putting cuts in the dash topper to run the tweeter thru. It sits on top of that now. I'm happy with it!

I also don't have a center speaker, so no issue there...and I removed the company tag on mine, no free advertising. Sorry.

...but...but...
i need the knob, how else am i supposed to manually shift into my 6 gears?!?!

No center because my oem amp gave me terrible noise and I opted to go with traditional 4 channel amp with much more power. I never bought DVD-A's for that true surround experience anyway.

Interesting. My coworker received the same email from the Attorney, but I did not. He has not fixed his and I already fixed mine. I wonder if the attorney is only targeting people who have not fixed their dash yet.

There's a person that posted in this thread stating they were going to file a civil action suit. I'm not sure if it's true or not but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I got mine from a company called dash-topper...but it turns out it's identical to the ones offered on autobarn for 1/2 the price. Just go with that.

I signed up too awhile back. My dealer Acura of Memphis told me it was 1500.00 and they would do it for 11xx.00. No loyalty or previous ownership etc....

I am trying to find an attorney in Memphis to file a Class Action also.

Throwing this out here just to see who would be willing to try. What if we all tried to gather all we know to have a day to protest in front of our Dealerships.
We would have to all pick one day in the future to give us time to gather all people in our cities that have this problem, contact the local paper, news people and such to cover. See if this could get national coverage through local coverage. I dont know if it would work but it is worth a try. Any other ideas welcome of course. Something has to be done with thousands affected.

When I dropped the car off last Wednesday, that was the first time I'd ever been to that dealership. Call acura client relations and stay on them about it

Dang Dan, I'm printing that picture (minus your name) and taking it to the dealer if/when I decide I'm tired of mine being cracked. I don't mind my dash mat, but honestly, I would prefer a nice dash that looks new.
