More recent and better quality one...still going strong many many months/years later.

Well without no negotiation, I was offered a replacement for $385 from my dealer. Going to try to knock it down to 300 but I think I will jump on this.

I think so plus they have a $50 off service over $300 on their website so I'll just use that and not attempt to haggle. I thought that was pretty nice of them given I am the 3rd owner and my car has been to their dealer only twice and that was for recall purposes.

FYI - reports of cracks on the Dodge Ram's dashboard. I'm going to start a poll to determine how many dash cracks there are tied to AZ. Otherwise it's hard to tell if we're at 100 affected people (at least) or 1,000+.

Finally got mine replaced in my 04. Acura comp'd 90% of the cost and left me with $165. Sucks that it took 3 yrs to finally talk them into it. Just FYI I took pictures and posted them on the Acura Facebook page along with my displeasure in how they had been handling the issue and was contacted within a couple hrs.

Looks so much better! Now I just need to figure out what to do about the ripped seats......

Had mine replaced for $365 last week. When I went to pick it up initially, the dash was not aligned properly and they fuckin ripped my passenger. They did replace the damaged leather and fix the dash perfectly after I made my demands

^Nice!

Yesterday when I brought mine in for service and picked up some parts I talked to the service agent about it.

He said he will do his best and submit it to Acura Client Services. But he did mention some factors such as the Texas sun/heat and putting armor all or something on it (ironically it cracked a day I had my sunshade up, and I told him I don't use armor all). He also mentioned it is out of warranty and the car is 9 years old but I told him there is still no way it should be cracking like that and he agreed but couldn't guarantee anything because he said it is not up to the dealer, but it's up to Acura.

TLDude is right, be persistent. I'm lucky that this hasn't happened to me but if it does I will be reminding the dealer there is more they can do than they lead on. Acura has the option to make it right, but if Acura doesn't do anything the dealer can always step in. They may choose not to do anything, but to say it's not up to them is inaccurate. Especially if you buy parts and/or service your vehicle with them. Customer loyalty can go a long way in resolving things like this.

Dealership BS

So I contacted Acura of Memphis today regarding my cracked dashboard in my 05 TL. He said he spoke to Acura and they would oay half $678.30. I came back with a stronger reply stating the fact that so many cars have this problem and it being luxury car, safety concerns, blah, blah, blah and he just replied...

"I got the same offer. I’m sorry we don’t have any say at the Dealer level for these things.

Let me know if you accept the offer, it’s good for 60 days."

I call BS on this. I told him they, the dealership, could offer to pay half since it was of no fault of mine but from a defective part. I doubt I will get another reply.

Any ideas on where to go from here? I also faxed my emails to Acura. And what is it with them not offering you an email address for customer service. I don't want to share my problems via Twitter!

Loyalty

Oh and this is my second Acura from this dealership and third total. My lease is up at the end of this year and we had considered buying it. This is definitely making me think twice about that!

Cracked really bad all over the place last summer

Asked Acura to pay half and they did. ($800)

They fixed it 2 weeks ago. They messed up the wiring with the lighting in my car though -_-

I wish I could have paid $370 for being a third owner

Well i'm apart of this new group also, my dash started cracking about a year ago (2005 NBP TL). Posted on there Facebook account, was called two days later and told they would contact my local dealer (David McDavid Austin TX). Received the call today and told Acura would only cover 25% and dealer would throw in another 10% (acted like they were doing me a favor). My cost $900 plus tax...i own a 1992 EG6 and a 97 CL along with my 05 TL, it will be the last Acura/Honda i ever own.

laugh all you want, I'm a business owner at my age. Also pretty successful one at that. I am tired of them calling me which has been multiple times to tell me the same thing. Why bother calling me if your nothing going to budge on the price. I refuse to pay that much money when i can personally get the dash for cost and put it in myself. I explained to them if they paid for the dash i would put it in. They told me that's not the way it works and they would want to do the whole gamut. So i told them how much i was willing to pay and they said no and i get stuck with a $1125 bill. I got frustrated and told them off. Its ridiculous to pay so much money for a so called "luxury" car and this happens, and Acura feels like its necessary to treat every case differently? Makes no sense, they should have a set price for people to pay to resolve this issue, not a case by case basis. Thats how you loose customers, i will NEVER buy a Acura again and i told them that and they said "ill note that" in a smug way, thats when i told them to go to hell and hung up. No need in calling me again, if i decide to buy a dash, ill install it, but i doubt ill ever wanna fork out that kind of money on something that should of never cracked in the first place. So please, dont let my age fool you

I wasn't really serious...but since you addressed it. I will tell you that you'll only KNOW what I'm talking about when you get older and look back at the way you used to react to things in your twenties. Until you're there, you might be mature for your age, but trust me. you're not qualified yet to talk about it since you haven't lived it.

Either way, wasn't serious. Hence the snickering...I think it's downright dirty that they're not budging from OVER a grand since they started at under $800 off the bat for me.

Sorry if I came across condescendingly. Just thought it was funny that your story ended with "so I hung up on dat nukka".

All good, man. back atcha. Honestly, I'm super happy I have the new dash...but I got convinced the mat looked bad...in hindsight it looked just friggin fine. And guess what...I wasn't worried about my dumb dash anymore...now I have the fkn stress of covering the windshield and cracking windows etc and hoping it doesn't happen again. Fk that.
