Maybe I should have been warned by the Acura dealer that this car was made for cold weather only, would have spent my $44k on some other warm weather made brand. LOL why are there Acura dealers in warm weather places if their cars are made for cold weather only? please dude THINK BEFORE POSTING. Impressive...

Are you serious? I dont have the problem but this is total BS. Never heard of it happening on any cars even if they were parked in sun all the time.

The way you see it is prettu stupid.

yea i think acura should be covering the dashes ... as it is obviously a issue with the material or the design they have used. but the location definitely has an effect on this too, as it is evident that most of the cracking dashes are occuring in the south. so, acura ideally should be stepping up to fix this. but taking preventive steps in hot weather MAY help extend the life of the dash

Wow Babnik you are a smart one. Clearly you didn't see my post when my dash started cracking. My TL has been garage kept since I got it. I keep my sunshade up whenever the car is parked outside. I also keep all windows, including my sunroof, vented whenever parked outside.

My dash looks like CRAP! I had a 7 inch crack over the airbag when i bought the car about 2 years ago and assumed id just figure out a way to fix it......it just gets worse and worse with the up and down weather here in north Florida. The cracks melt together mid-day in this heat though and it looks great! I shouldnt have bought a car made for cold weather.............that was the dumbest post i ever saw here.

I'm getting a local upholstery shop to put some vinyl over the whole dash at the end of the month - Pics to follow. I think that is going to be the only fix for those of us that didnt buy a new acura from the dealer. That or buy a dash for $600 and pay the labor........

How much is that gonna cost you? Are they taking the dash out? Or are you?

That's actually very good info. So the dash tries to pull itself apart when it goes from hot to cold.

I would be especially careful that the dash heats and cools evenly. Don't let the sun shine on only have the dash during the day.

Of the cracked dash people, how many run the AC in the auto position instead of manually having the air go through the front vents? I'm wondering if the little cold air that comes through the defrost when you put it in auto has something to do with it.

I never use the AUTO air function. I can't say the previous owner didn't though.

I've never run auto air.. I put it at the 2nd level tops. If it's a hot day you can't tell the cracks are there.. but as soon as you put on the AC, they appear which is why I believe thermal stress is the key factor, more so than mechanical stress.

I think that's a good theory. It would suck but maybe trying to cool the car off slower would help where the entire dash can normalize at the same rate.... I know it's not practical.

One thing I noticed was parking it at work where it was halfway in the shade and half in the sun, it got an indentation along the airbag outline. I could feel it with my finger. To this day it has not done it again.

Could we start a poll to see if this is hitting all years of the 3rd gen?

It would also be interesting to see how it breaks down Navi versus non Navi.

Check with your dealer, it is supposed to be covered under lifetime warranty. I am having mine fixed this week.

Well about 2 months ago I noticed my dash had a crack. Took it to the dealer a month ago and set up an appointment for the Acura rep to look at it. Well two weeks ago this took place and they agreed to replace the dash! I just got my car back today after a week in the shop and all I can say is THANK YOU to my local Houston dealer. JOHN EAGLE ACURA in Houston went above and beyond to help me! If you want specifics please PM me and I will be happy to share. I honestly had the best service advisor I could have ever asked for. I have had many cars among different brands and NOTHING compares to the service I experienced at John Eagle Acura.

I went to Columbia Acura. They called Acura head office in California. And they even turn on the speaker and let me hear head office said that they will not cover the dashboard cracks. I love my car. Now I dont really know what to do.

Just because they won't cover the whole cost of repair doesn't mean that they won't cover part of the bill. They wanted me to pay $1500+ to have mine replaced. I said that was ridiculous and there's no way in hell I would pay that. They knew I wasn't happy so they covered $1000 and I paid the remaining balance of $500 and some change.

R you asking I should ask dealer to cover part of it or have dealer to call Acura to cover part of it? My dealer 's altitude wasn't nice. They asked me to stop complaining or just get another car. I hate them. I bought my car from West Palm beach Acura in Florida.

Tell them you want corporate to cover part of the cost. The dealer shouldn't have any say in what you pay. The only thing they need to worry about is actually swapping out the dash.

I bought my 05 TL with 35,000 miles with a crack dash 3 months ago and got Acura-USA to cover it. The car dealer and Acura-USA denied my claim for "good will" but Acura-USA agreed to fix the dash showing DMV proof I owned Accord (1991,2000,2002,2005) and a S2000 (2002). I'm all happy with my new non-rattle dash now. Hope this helps.
I have also owned a 1991 Saturn, 2002 Sentra, and 1993 Altima. There is a reason why I have so many Hondas. They don't break down and drives a lot better. Will never buy junk cars again. Well maybe an Audi when I can afford repair bills.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has those pieces of the door handles fall off. My front passenger side one is held on with gorilla glue now. I got sick of buying a new one each time it decided to fall off.

There's a TSB for that. You can find the info on this site in the 3G garage. Go to the dealer and they'll fix it for you for free.

The exact same thing happened to me last week. I noticed it after I got back from the carwash. Drove back up there and found it and superglued it on.
