My dash started cracking, driver's side and in the middle. 05 TL, 82K miles. I'll try to get pics soon. It came out of nowhere, just noticed it when I was cleaning it, happened in the past month or so, I'd say the driver's side is at least a foot long. I live in Alabama, but this just happened in February.

It look's like ( at least from the Pic's) that the cracks happen to cars that reside down south, or in really hot climate. I've had my car for 2 years, no crack's and I live in MA.

Acura should stand behind their product, no matter where it resides.

My whole family lives in Florida. Not ONE of them has ever had a dashboard crack from "heat", no matter the make or model of the car. My mom has a 1997 Dodge Intrepid that was bought brand new in 1996 and the dashboard looks brand new. My cousin has a 1988 Civic that has NEVER been garaged, yet his dashboard doesn't have any cracks.

I'm not sure why my "midsize luxury car" had a cracking dashboard after being only 5 years old. It was originally a lease down in Florida and then I purchased it. I clean it every week and it is garage kept. There is NO reason for this to happen, especially not for this many people.

Mine is cracking up like crazy...! It makes my car look so ugly inside! I already took it to the dealer, but have been waiting almost a week for the call to fix it for me.

Damn Adrian really? I didn't notice at the last meet. That sucks though.

I waited 2 weeks for my service rep to contact me. The bill was over $1600, but Acura covered $1050 for me. I paid $550 total for those of you who can't do math

Yeah I only had like two cracks, but it's much worst than any pics that are shown in this thread. If they can at least do that deal for me, I would be satisfied.

Lots of you guys have had better luck than me. I fought with Acura corp for about 2-3 months with not luck of any help at all.

I took a huge loss on my car when I sold it, but my dash was so bad I could not take it any longer.

It's been over 3 weeks and I have not heard from the dealer. They said that they would call me about my dash. I have called since then; should I keep bugging them?

Damn 3 weeks man? That's shitty. My dealer got back to me in about 7 business days. I would call them or better yet, if it's not a far drive, go there and complain. Say it's bad enough that your dash is cracking but having a dealer that doesn't keep you in the loop is frustrating.

i had the same thing but right above the speaker... they replaced mine for free as soon as the order for a new dash arrived at a dealer... apparently from what they told me its a problem that the 2005 model dashboards had and thts why the replaced mine for free.
Dont quote me on that, but that is what i was told.
Good luck, and yes, deff call them and better yet, go to your dealer and complain!

dashboards don't really need care. I've seen some beat ass cars from 30+ years old sitting in the sun without a cracked dashboard. If someone has taken it apart you can probably figure out what is causing it..

bottom line this is a material issue. Cheap manufacturing using thin material at the lowest bid manufacturer. I wish this car was made like my Legend was! Not even close its disappointing but still seems like a good car and looks great! I will not be getting rid of my Legend though thats for sure.

Don't let one bad thing ruin everything honda has done. Yes a dash shouldn't be cracking only after 4-5 years, but is the car under warranty? The answer is no, and honda is trying to do the right thing by covering quite a bit of it. Honda has no obligation to help you, me or anyone else with a cracked dash, and you know what, they are trying to help by giving us some sort of credit. I have nearly 88K on my TL now and they replaced my dash a few weeks ago. Did they have to Of course not! This is why I bought another honda, because their service and dedication is beyond what it needs to be.

If you want to know what's unreasonable, imagine having a car worth more than people's houses and a dealer refusing to test drive a car for transmission issues. When that happens you'll know who has good service.

Courtesy Acura in Sanford, see angela Disco in service. Call before you go and make sure that she's working that day.

Hi guys new to the site.

Im usually a chevy guy(no flame) I was looking at a 07-08 tl type-s. But this is one thing that is holding me back from the acura. A cracked dash. I have been following this story and the once on facebook about the cracked dashes. Is it possible the people with the 04 problems. Are you guys anywhere close in the vin numbers? Maybe it was a few bad materials that got into the build for a certain gap in the vin? This is the main reason I haven't bought one yet as I can't make a decision. Has this happened in an 07 or 08 yet?

Thanks

It looks like the dash cracking is cause by the heat. looks like all the people with cracked dashes live in South, or in really hot climate (the south).

I lived in Puerto Rico for a couple of years, and most cars I've been in, didn't have this problem. SO, maybe it's actually the material combined with the heat? i dunno, either way Acura should fix this issue, but since it's not really a health hazard, I don't think they will care to much. unless it affects the way the airbags deploy? Any one want to test that out?

04 TL My dash started cracking right at 52K miles (after warranty expired). I'll be making a trip to the dealer to voice my opinion soon.

I think warranty doesn't even cover the dash as it is consider a wear tear trim part. Anyway, I have an 08, but I have been applying 303 protectant also use sunshade just to be safe.

Called Acura of Orange Park, they informed me that they have had quite a few people come in for the same reason. They will not offer any assistance unless its under warranty. Replacement cost is $1700 - $1800! He told me I could try and call corporate Acura but that he couldn't help me. Anybody got a number? I am seriously kinda pissed right now.

No idea. I'm sure everybody uses different products to clean their dash and clean it at different intervals.

I hate to admit it but it looks like everybody with a cracking dash is in the Southeastern US. Heat and humidity probably have some role in the cracking.

I should have kept my stock dash after they replaced it and looked into it further

Just had mine replaces (53k miles, 04). Rick Case in Pembroke pines (so fla) replaced it. Acura paid 80% and i paid 30%, or about $350. If anyone does file a lawsuit, lemme know, i'll be down to get me $350 back.

I have had similar issues with Acura of Orange Park. I plan to never do business with that place again. Have you tried Duval Acura?

Thanks man. I'm surprised it cracked. I clean the car, use 303 every few weeks on the dash and the car is garage kept. It is not perfect by any means ont he exterior but I work very hard the keep the interior fresh.

Your warranty was/is good to 52500 miles due to the class action odometer lawsuit.

Mine just recently started to crack, 04 w/76k. Went to Courtesy Acura in Sanford, thay were less than helpful..Actually the advisor Angelia was a complete B****, needless to say I called the service manager and corporate and put in a complaint. I'm sure they won't do anything, I should hear back in the next or so and will keep everyone posted...

BTW: I also have a 99' Ford Expedition with 200K and sits outside all day, no cracks what so ever....

You guys don't get it, it doesn't matter if you put 303 or any product every day the dash will eventually crack. Is a defect on the dash, and we are not only the ones. Imagine the hundres of TL's that are out there that are not members of acurazine. Probably they think they are the only ones with this problem. This requires a law suit, is the only way to get it fixed. And i bet that if we do one we will win it. And those who do not care is because they don't have the problem. But guess what its only a matter of time and you may be next.
