Check Engine Light after 1.5 years in storage

Was really excited to get my TL on the road after 1.5 years in storage. After some smooth driving for a few minutes, I got a solid CEL.
Got home, disconnected the battery because I had to reset the stereo code. Code cleared and drove off again. After about 15 minutes, CEL came on again.

My question is, could this simply be caused by stale gas or gas+stabilizer, or some other reason related to storage? The only thing I changed while in storage was the transmission filter and engine air filter.
I'm wondering if it's worth the risk of driving until I use up the remaining 1/2 tank of gas and see if that clears it up.

I'm also debating whether or not to invest in a cheap code reader.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Most auto parts stores will do code-reading for free. Start there. My guess is old gas.

Thanks for the replies. Will report back with codes if needed.
Free code checks aren't too common around here so will call around.

Don't know if your TL has NAV, but you could try this as well on your own - https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-a...ed-nav-822769/
